View Full Version : She sounds like Katharine Hepburn!

Buffy does this funny thing from time to time, usually when we're
playing. She'll start to meow just as she begins to run toward me. She
sounds for all the world like Katharine Hepburn when her voice was
quavering.

Not to disparage that grand dame of acting but if you ever saw the film
'The African Queen', just imagine Buffy trying to say "Mr. Alnutt!" Her
meow comes out like "me uh uh uh". It's very comical!

Or video! Even if I had the equipment, you know cats. She'd never do
it on cue. I'd never be able to grab the camera fast enough. If I did
she'd stop and wash her back leg or something. Still cute, but not the
same as hearing "Mr. Alnutt!" in cat. LOL

Dogs can do this sort of "imitation" too. My take on this is that they are
imitating the over all human speech pattern.

Many years ago I had a miniature schnauzer. I also had a cat. One day
I called, "Here, kitty, kitty!" and the dog answered, "Meow".
