View Full Version : Bush and his cronies to wipe out all endangered species...

-L.
October 12th 03, 06:14 AM
From the San Jose Mercury News...

"The Bush administration is proposing far-reaching changes to
conservation policies that would allow hunters, circuses and the pet
industry to kill, capture and import animals on the brink of
extinction in other countries.

Giving Americans access to endangered animals, officials said, would
feed the gigantic U.S. demand for live animals, skins, parts and
trophies, and generate profits that would allow poor nations to pay
for conservation of the remaining animals and their habitats."

>Who voted for these a$$holes?

Gaubster for one (like that's a surprise. He makes Bush look like a
rocket scientist.)
I am so angry after reading this article I could scream. Their
justification for this is totally retarded. The article did say that
we're in the public comment period until the 17th. Does anyone know
specifics on how and where to comment?

Here's a link to a less biased account of the story, which has
nothing to do with President Bush, but with the Federal Fish and
Wildlife Service. You have to watch for outright lies from any
story originating from the Washington Post and/or the LA Times (and
many others). It's only a handful of species that are being
considered, and it is to supposedly encourage third world countries
where these animals are treated poorly to adopt better conservation
programs.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/10/11/endangered.species/index.html

As to the vulgar comment as to who votes for whom, I would hope
there would be more than one issue that voters consider. And that
they'd check their sources. I'd hate to think that we are a nation
of simpletons.

ps. I said this act is being considered to "supposedly" encourage
third world countries where these animals are treated poorly to
adopt better conservation programs. I think it's despicable that
anyone would let a sick hunter harm these animals or that they'd end
up in some roadshow circus. I think we need to find out which
special interest group is behind this and why the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service is even considering it. Probably hunters and/or
circuses - both of which I despise!

Here's a link to email the Fish and Wildlife Service - do so before

Dear L. There are plenty of "endangered" animals that are not
worthy ANYMORE ... of being on the endangered list. Gray wolves are
but one example. Deer and elk in some regions are also no longer
"endangered" and in fact need to be thinned out.

Keep in mind ANYTHING you read from Bay Area newspapers is way left
of center and heavily influenced by the eco nazis.

Have you ever noticed that none of the animals "we" classify as a
harvestable food source is "endangered?" That's because "we" breed
them and monitor their numbers so that their numbers will never be
hunted into extinction.

Agreed. The NY Times, The LA Times, The Chicago Tribune, the San
Fransico Chronicle, and ALL the newspapers who get their news feed
and articles from these papers are very suspect these days as all of
them are politically LEFT of center to a considerable degree.

Think it because, it's true. Don't stay in denial. These are the
people the Democrats appeal to.

Nothing to worry about really. It´s not that simple. There´s an
international agency of which the USA is a member that regulates the
trade of endangered species. Every species that leaves the country
*must* have documentation of precedence (a hunter cannot go and get
one in the wild). For example, if the pandas in some Chinese zoo has
offspring and this zoo does not wish to keep them, this zoo can sell
them to other zoos around the world. These animals *cannot* be taken
from their wild habitats. This trade is highly regulated by all
members and most countries in the world are members.

Megan, you don't even know me, so why make a comment like that? Did I ever say
I voted for Bush? Hmm? Please "link" where I said that? You are such a
shrill. Another knee-jerk reaction from you. Figures. Why you must act so
immature is something I'll probably never figure out.

It seems that revealing the truth will be branded as left of center

Sensationalism (yellow journalism) from sources that prefer BEING the

Actually, since the anthrax scare, all mail to the federal government
(or at least to White House and Congress) is being delayed by 2 weeks
or so. The most effective means of communication is fax.

I would DEFINITELY check another news source about this story if not
actually read the actual proposal allowing importation of endangered
species from other countries BEFORE you all go shooting your mouths
off about something you have not adequately researched.

I would DEFINITELY check another news source about this story if not
actually read the actual proposal allowing importation of endangered
species from other countries BEFORE you all go shooting your mouths
off about something you have not adequately researched.

You've got to wonder whtat sort of mind can make sense of such tortured logic.
I'd rather eat glass than vote for anyone even remotely connected to this
current travesty of an administration.

I beseech everyone to get rid of this buffoonish president.

I haven't heard any of this from reliable sources. This sounds to me like
"Social Security is going to fail" and that kind of scare tactic. Politics
is getting very dirty these days and trying to get to animal lovers sounds
like more dirty tricks to me.

Tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Where news feed is placed in the paper (if at all), the titles, and
ESPECIALLY editorials are sourced at the paper itself.

I second GAUBSTER2's question. The primary group of Bush detractors
are the secular socialists of the European tradition.
