View Full Version : My cat the hunter

Ablang

My cat is an indoor-only cat and I read somewhere that they are
natural hunters, preferring to sleep during the day and hunt at night.

I do notice that my cat is more active at night, and usually if I go
into another room and come back out she is hiding. I usually know where
she's at, and she sees my eyes, but she always lunges at me (claws not
extended) as I walk past. Sometimes she doesn't touch me, sometimes she
touches me with her front paws (just to prove she can).

Does anyone else's cats do this?

My cat lies in wait for me, often. She takes a swipe at me and then quickly
loses interest in me, hits her claw post, scratches the hell out of it, then
looks right at me, with her tail all bushed up. Intense eye contact
follows.

I consider that one of her more healthy behaviours.

It's cat play, I'd encourage it as long as the cat doesn't draw blood, your
blood! Here it mostly happens in the morning and it's a great way to start
the day. It lets me know she knows I'm here and thinks I'm worthy of her
attention.

Mine pretty much only happens at night, where she will lie in wait
just behind the entrance to another room while I walk down the hallway, us
both knowing where the other is.

I swear she just does it to scare the heck outta me because she's
bored of staying home all day.

We have FIVE cats ...they all have played this game at one time or another,
therefore, I'd say it is a common practice ...or should I say "play".

I think she's only too happy to have you back and wants to play.
The cats seem to playfully attack people only which they know.
I love it when my cat does that!

My cat lays down to trip me.
He can sleep for several hours
in wait. Sometimes he is accompanied
or should it be accomplice d.
