View Full Version : A Lesson for Kayla

Our pup just learned a lesson that will serve her well.

Maybe the cat can get away from you when he wants to. But there is no where
for you to go when he's had enough and comes after you.

ROTFLMAO! I know what you mean. It's funny but kind of sad to see 80 pound
Gypsy trying not to even look at 7 pound Jessie as she skirts around
wherever Jessie is laying! ;>

We're still keeping Digger outside unless it's too cold (in which case he
stays in a bedroom with the door closed), or for some playing / socializing
time that's closely supervised. The problem is he's too dumb to be afraid
of Jessie, and Jessie is to b*llsy to back down. Their one encounter was
when Jessie ran into the room and ran up to him and started swatting him in
the face. Unlike Gypsy, who would have run away with her tail between her
legs, Digger started barking and made to lunge at Jessie. DH and I were
right there, I to grab Digger and he to grab Jessie, before either could be
hurt. But Jessie would not back down, even in the face of 120 Rottweiler
(gawd, 6' 4", 250 men have been know to go weak in the knees at the sight of
a 120 pound Rottweiler barking at them!!!). Jessie just kept trying to
wiggle out of DH's arms so she could go attack Digger some more!! "Lemme at
him, come on, lemme go so I can kill him!" ;>

When I was a teenager we had a white long haired cat, Miss White, who
used to think all dogs deserved a good scratch across the snout for no
reason. She often used to keep me company when I shovelled. Next door
lived a big german sheppard who would come over for some petting when I
was outside. Of course Miss White was invisible in the snow and when
the dog appeared around the snowbank out of nowhere invisible claws
would slash across his nose and he would run home as fast as he could.

When I was babysitting Shadow, a 18month black lab, he tried to take on
HRFL Tiger. *ONCE*. After that, every time Shadow saw HRFL, he went in
the oposite direction! I found it particularly funny when HRFL would
turf Shadow out os his bed, sit in it for 2 minutes or as long as it
took for Shadow to lie down on the cold kitchen floor, and then he'd get
up, flick his tail at Shadow, swear at him and walk out of the kitchen.
After 2 days, Shadow had a permanent "What did *I* do??" look on his
face!

Shadows mom reports that he's now VERY respectful to cats! ;o)

I used to walk an oversized silly girl mutt named Cookie. In her
youth, Cookie wanted to be friends with everyone and everything,
including the occasional cautious kitty on her walk route (think Woofy
from "Mutts"-- "I LOVE KITTIES!") One day, she saw a cat minding his
own business, and almost pulled my arm out of the socket, dragging me
over there to say hello to the poor cat, who responded by puffing up,
and giving poor Cookie a good, claw-studded bop on the nose. Cookie
came away with a bleeding nose, and had a hysterical meltdown ever
time she saw a cat for the rest of her life.

Next door's Alsatian, Floyd, is very respectful to cats. Apparently
when he was much younger, his owner's kitty, Crowley, decided to "hitch
a riide". Floyd was unneutered ....
