View Full Version : Another Sleepy Cat Story

Dan Mahoney's story abut Samantha reminded me of a story my MIL tells.
When their neighbors sold their house and moved, they left behind a cat
named TJ. TJ took their leaving him in stride, moving into Rob's
parent's carport and making himself at home. TJ was a gray, scruffy
looking longhair, with gray eyes and a sleepy personality. Everything
TJ did was in slow motion. His fastest run was the equivalent of an
elder statesman's slow ramble. His walk could barely out pace a snail.
TJ was noted for being a heinz kitty, slow moving and of 57 different
ancestries.

When the interest rates first went down during the late 80's, Rob's
parents decided to re-finance their house. The bank sent out an
appraiser to check out the place, as is/was standard procedure. Mom let
him through the inside of the house then watched him walk around the
outside of the house to complete his inspection. She then went back to
washing dishes.

Looking out the kitchen window, she noticed that the appraiser was
standing in the middle of their driveway looking in alarm at something.
He walked to the front door and rang the doorbell. Concerned, she
answered it.

"Lady," he said. "I think there's a dead cat in your driveway." He
pointed to a spot on the concrete, beyond Mom's sight. Mom followed him
out onto the front walk where she finally saw where his shaking finger
was pointing.

"TJ!" MIL exclaimed. As the white faced appraiser and Mom watched, TJ
slowly got up and ambled off.
