S/he moves around the yard like a ghost: silent and so swift that you barely
glimpse him/her. But starting today, s/he was calming down a bit. I found
her/him sleeping peacefully in the blackberry patch and set down a bowl of
gooshy food about two feet away to surprise him/her when s/he woke up. At
which time I was able to stand about 6' away without spooking him/her.
Later, I brought out a very tasty treat and was allowed to quietly observe
the ghost kitten from close range.
I did not get to see under Coco's tail yet to know if my ghost kitty is a
boy or a girl. S/he's about the same size as Twiggy's kittens, or maybe just
a bit smaller.
I wonder how long it will take for this baby to allow him/herself to be
touched by a hoomin..... We've had many a one-way conversation from a
distance. I keep up a running monologue puncuated with long blinks and
yawns. S/he is definitely relaxing around me - and around Dave as well.
