View Full Version : XMAS FEELING HAS STARTED

sheelagh
December 16th 06, 01:46 PM
The tree came out last night, the kids got excited, &today is the day
that we think about what we buy for who.The cats keep climbing the xmas
tree to catch the fairy light's, so it has been over so many times that
I cant count them(nothing new there then!!),.The mince pies are stored
in the oven in case one of the cats gets on the top whilst we are out
shopping(last year I was silly enough to leave the turkey out:o(The
cats were extatic &I never did dare tell aunty Flo, that the bit
missing out of her leg was more than appreciated by jasper ,lol!!),&
takes a fancy to one in our absence-which wont be too long I might add,
as we have already chosen extended family presents by sending them
adopt a cat @ the rescue center's cats...I am sure that they will be
delighted with them,lol!!..Nevertheless, like them or not,It made me
feel better,& the cats feel 5 x better as a consequence too.All that
remains is to buy the cats their presents. This year it is going to be a
new cat gym...they are going to need it big time after xmas....
How is everyone else faring?

when you enlarge the photo it is a bit fuzzy, is there anything you can
do to make it clearer? and what about the little kittens? lets see a
pic of them too?

christmas shopping is not an option for me this year; spent 90 quid
at the vets yesterday on a check up and more medication for my jessie
puss so christmas is kind of cancelled. Doesnt' matter anyway, noone
ever seems to like anything I get them and keeping jessie healthy and
happy is fair more important really

You can bet on it,he he.Every year seems to be for one reason or
another. The combination does tend to throw up random suprises.. when
you least expect them too!!?A lethal combination, especially when the
kids bring up subjects best left alone @ the dinner table...

>and now kittens.. woo woo

Funny you should say that.I got a call today asking if I could take
4kittens tonight."Apparently", Mummy got knocked over by a car & they
can't cope with them. This family seem to have amazingly bad luck...the
same thing happened to them 10 months ago, when they last asked me to
take in a litter of 6.What can you do though...say no?
I don't think I could do that. The up side is that they are 5weeks
old,So no bottle feeding- I intend to start them off on royal Canin
kitten food mixed with Cimi-cat, & see how we go.I always worry about
taking younger ones because I am terrified that they might aspirate on
the milk.Just because I have done it before, doesn't mean to say that I
feel overly confident about it;I am always worride that it could happen
to me.Any tips are more than gratefuly accepted on this one please?

> have you started your shopping yet? lol,
Other than making contibutions to the shelter on behalf of our extended
family, today was the first rugby scrum we took part in.I have to say
that I hate it with a passion:o(.
Each child got one thing that they asked for, so that was a
relief!Thankfully they have got to the age where they understand that
when things are bountyful, they do get material things...& when they are
not particularly so, we do our best.
We have food, & so do the cats too, as it was buy 2,get one free @ Pets
@Home today.Plenty of litter & another new litter tray to add to the
collection, for the kittens.(yes, I did go soft in the head & buy them a
new tinkle toy to play with.I simply couldn't restrain myself..why do I
do it?)
>don't get me nothing..I don't
> need anything
Ok then, maybe next year ,hey? The cats are sending plenty of warm
purzzzzzz though to your lot just to make up for it,ok?

I know what you mean,I almost got drunk on it today..then got a reality
check when I went to the atm:o(

Oh,I feel for you.It doesn't matter how hard you try...the damned thing
never does work how ever hard you try to engineer it, does it?Mine
sends me insane when I'm trying hard to get a particular pic (a good
work-woman never blames their tools ect, lol :o)
Keep at it, they are always appreciated you know.Once I get the kittens
settled,I will try & post one or two of them when I can.5extra visitors
for xmas.4kitty's in the new extension, & Ringo in the patio
extension, lolling all over his favourite chair..He seems to be
setteling very well indeed. He nips out to spend a penny, then straight
back to the comfort of his hot water bottle under his cushion,& his
food bowl

..> that's her coming out of the litterbox

Thanx for the photo..keep them coming.I thought the caption was rather
funny myself ,lol!(I have 3son's....that is probably why:o)

Hi Sheelagh,

You're wonderful to take in more kitties! Bless you for being so generous
with them--the cats in your neighborhood are lucky to have you around!

Have fun with them! Bonnie

P.S. Your neighbors should rethink having cats if they're not going to have
them altered--especially if they are letting their cats out. They've
orphaned at least 16 kittens by being so irresponsible.

(sorry for delay between post,we had a power cut-just what you need
when it is freezing!!)

I can't wait to see them either.I know most people think that they look
kind of boring until they get over 10 days old,but I don't...I think
they are facinating.
On the photo taking. You just have to keep trying until you get one that
does look like you want it to.I wouldn't be lieing if I told you that
for each decent photo I get, I took 40 to get there...Patienece is a
virtue...or so they tell me.I am still learning that virtue;o)Have a
look at this one

I know how you feel(said sheela glumly),I thought I was going to be
relatively rich...in other words I could afford the cracker's & other
useless expensive trimmings too-but when I heard about the kittens
coming to stay,I called at the vet's & bought a tin of cimmi cat (which
I mix with the kitty food btw-not seperatley.I didn't think about
mentioning that until i read what I typed...)instead,then sat down to
ponder whence the innoculation money is going to come from...hmm,will
it be the the extra pen I was hoping for, or will it be instead of
camera I was hoping to grab on the jabnuary sales-Actually It is no
contest,It is definately going to be the camera.....
Anyway,I don't need it-but the kittens certainly do need the
injections,& possibly other treatment too.I just thank my lucky star's
that I have one of those vets that happen to agree with me.Treat now,
pay asap.I'm not sure her accountant would agree with us... but we get
along fine & get there in the end:o)

> Doesnt' matter anyway, noone
> ever seems to like anything I get them

Do what I do...give the money to the cat shelter,& forward the thank
you letter &glossy certificate to say that you have sponsered thier
particular cat...they have given up asking for anything in particular
now, they know what thier getting lol:o)

> and keeping jessie healthy and
> happy is fair more important really

You are so right of course.I couldn't think of anything worse than
looking at a sick cat, after glancing at lots of new shiney unessacery
box's of a,b & c which you won't even remember

OT:How is Jess doing & have you thought anymore on the blind cat saga?I
think it a very commendable thing to do & I wish you well if you do
decide to.Looking @ Duffy &Holly,really makes me warm inside.I
appreciate your concerns' though-I think I would have the same conerns
too...but you don't know till you try,do you?Best of luck whatever the
outcome is.

How could I possibly say no?It would be immoral of me & for the rest of
my life I would wonder what ever became of them.I am known
affectionatley as "the cat woman",lol:o)

I hate to say this, but I have my doubts about whether or not it
actually did happen.(I never question it though-I worry that if I
did,what might happen to them??If I don't take them,where else would
they go-these arn't the sort of people that would go to the trouble of
taking them to a shelter:o(
I have had so many people turn up with cats & kittens over the last
8years or so,that it is hardly suprising that they must think I am an
eccentric cat woman.
I don't do it on my own & cant take all of the credit for it-I have a
really supportive partner who raises his eye's & sigh's every time I
get a call like that ,but never murmers a single complaint-even when we
have to travel up to 50miles to collect them.
There are 4kids still living at home & they all help out with filling
the food bowls @ meal times(inc communalbowl's&cracking the ice some
morings in winter too),washing the dishes, putting clean blankets down
for them, bringing all of the cat laundry to me,hanging it all out &
socialising them all & playing with them too.It is a family thing that
I hope that they will continue long after I am gone

> P.S. Your neighbors should rethink having cats if they're not going to have

Oh boy,all it would take is to apply to the cat protection league for a
voucher(in uk), if they are on low incomes,& they would help by paying
half of the cost of spaying the cat. That would mean them having to find
around $18-hardly a fortune is it?.I do a bit of work for them
too(cpt),& keep putting fliers through thier doors, so I *know* that
they know, yet they never seem to come forward.Even putting my phone
number on them makes no diference...to them it seems to be easier to
just hand the kittens over to me as soon as they possibly can,so that
they don't have to face the trouble of injecting & homing them..I think
it is terribly sad really.
I have thought about catching some of the culprits & just getting them
fixed, but I can't without thier consent:o(

> Have fun with them! Bonnie

Oh yes! that is half the joy of it.It is also nice to make even more
friends through homing them as well.I also ask thier new parents give
me the spay/nuetering fee in advance so that I know that the kittens
will be done before they leave us too.I don't discriminate those on low
incomes,as there is no need-the offer of help is there, all they have to
do is ask for it.Once done & injected,I allow them to go.I have to
admitt, that It was hard work trying to find a vet willing to do it when
they are so young;most are not very willing!
Over 95% of them stay in touch with us & even send photos & news of
them all-that is all of the thanks that we need.

He wouldn't hurt them intentionally. He just is too interested in himself to

What is it that you think you have to give that people should
pay for your cats' medical needs, take verbal abuse from you,
and watch the Barry Show endlessly, which goes, "Im a ****-up,"
"I'm a BIG MAN," etc. ad nauseum? When you give nothing
back, nothing to anyone. Yet you expect EVERYTHING.

You have a sense of entitlement that will not quit. And look
around you. ALL you have is what you have worked for,
with the exception of the things I and your parents have
given you.

You give NOTHING back, Barry. You think of nobody but
yourself. You denigrate others who work twice as hard as you
and make better decisions because they try harder. Yet you
expect people to hand you everything--including courtesy and
respect, when you do not give that to anyone at all.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what you think is IN IT
for everyone you abuse, to just keep coming back for more.

And I have seen the goods, so to speak. Alllllll the goods.

Until you learn to get your head out of your ass and treat
others with respect, you will always be nothing but a ridiculous
ass.

Break the cycle of ignorance and brutality.

Or stay the ****ed up old man you are, stuck in the shuck and jive
patterns that worked well back in the 80s when you had all your
hair but just do not work now.

Give respect and you will get respect. And pay your own way.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR ****ING CATS.

Asshole. Asshole, asshole, asshole.

That's right. You lie one day and tell the truth the next. How can
you live with yourself?

I don't know where you got that. My Daddy was an asshole but not a
military asshole. He was just a Republican asshole. For that, I can
forgive him. My Momma was God incarnate. You should have been so
lucky.

My live is a dream, Barry. I have done 90% of everything I have ever
wanted to do. Climbed the pyramids of Chichen Itza, swam with green
sea turtles off Kona. Married to a man I never dreamed I would be
lucky enough to find. And blessed with the most darling son anyone
could ask for.

What do you have to show of your life, Barry? Burned up second-hand
hotplate, a kerosene heater, and alone during Christmas - that's what.

That's an almighty God you got yerself there, Boy...
