Buffy's Hiding Off and On by jmcquown[_2_]
Buffy has started hiding again, off and on. In the last day or so she has started fighting me giving her the liquid pain medication. She did sleep with me last night but when I got up this morning to dish up her food, fresh water, etc. she got off the bed and hid on the chair under the dining...

Buffy's Hiding Again by jmcquown[_2_]
Buffy started hiding again. Saturday she ate but not nearly as much as she had been. I literally picked her up and set her in front of the food. Nope. Yesterday she didn't eat. She did use the litter box (there was poop and pee to scoop both morning and before I went to bed) but she's...

Buffy Update 5/30/2021 by jmcquown[_2_]
She just fooled me again and this afternoon ate some of the dry Rx kibble. I've been dishing up 1/4 of a cup every day in a separate bowl "just in case". She's ignored it. This afternoon she surprised me! I still primarily expect her to only want to eat soft canned food given her situation...

Changed Buffy's Food by jmcquown[_2_]
Back in January the vet put Buffy on prescription food due to a bladder stone. I was quite surprised to find she absolutely loved it and it resolved that issue. But since she hasn't been eating due to the tumor in her jaw I said to heck with the prescription food and dished up some Sheba wet...

An Amusing Thing in a rather sad situation by jmcquown[_2_]
When I picked up Buffy from the veterinary clinic today the vet tech had already brought Buffy out. We were sitting on a nice glider bench, Buffy in her Sherpa bag on a nice comfy fleece liner under a shade canopy waiting for them to bring me the medication. Instead of the vet tech, the doctor...

Cinnamon - Rainbow Bridge by Cheryl[_5_]
I am sad to announce that Cinnamon has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Her kidneys had been failing for a while, but she had been doing well with some medication and special food. Last Thursday she had tests done, and was doing well enough that she didn't need another test until the fall. But over...

Let it be noted this appears to be a black cat ;) https://www.newsweek.com/fearless-cat-caught-camera-chasing-away-coyote-1592197 Footage of a brave black cat chasing off a wild coyote late at night last week has gone viral online — and impressed cat owners across the world. Members of...

Hi by [email protected]
Just popping in Although really nothing to report both owners are fine. I got them a new toy yesterday, a catnip stuffed fish. They both went mad I don't think Bonnie played that much when she was a kitten! Alas the fish is now very soggy and has vanished so I am waiting to find it in my bed ...

Buffy is Feeling Better (5/13/2021) by jmcquown[_2_]
For palliative care the vet has me adding adding a drop of liquid prednisone (a steroid, chicken flavoured, from a compounding pharmacy) to her wet food. When I got home from work yesterday she'd eaten all the gooshy food and all the dry kibble! I gave her more of the dry food and she snacked...

Palliative Care by jmcquown[_2_]
Buffy is still here. Despite the weepy eye the vet said she looks much better! Just as I thought, Buffy has gained back a little of the weight she'd lost. The cortisone shot last week greatly reduced the inflammation in her jaw. She said she honestly doesn't think it's "time" yet....

Buffy Update 5/6/2021 by jmcquown[_2_]
Thank you for all the kind purrs (and thank you to Judith for letting the folks on FB know what's going on). Buffy seemed greatly improved yesterday. When I got home yesterday she had washed her face and eaten. She ate and drank even more shortly after I got home. Litterbox output appears to...

Buffy Update 5/4/2021 by jmcquown[_2_]
No real signs of improvement. :( Yesterday morning (Monday) she ate all her gooshy food. When I got home she was hiding and she'd vomited what she'd eaten. Poor girl! I tried to find her but don't know where she had herself tucked away. A short while later she came out and meowed at me and I...

Another Buffy Pic (5/6/2021) by jmcquown[_2_]
Tonight she ate some more Royal Canin gooshy food and drank plenty of water, then she got up on the bed and got comfortable. I petted her and gave her a kiss on the top of her head. Next time I looked she'd curled into a ball, snoozing: https://i.postimg.cc/pTcv9dmS/curledup.jpg It's a sweet...

Buffy and Emery Boards by jmcquown[_2_]
Emery boards - those cardboard things some people use to keep file their fingernails. For some reason Buffy does not like them! Any time I pick up an emery board to use on my fingernails she jumps up and tries to get it away from me. This is new behaviour. I've never tried to use an emery...

Purrs for Buffy by jmcquown[_2_]
Her troubles aren't over. The vet had told me after the teeth extractions on 4/16 Buffy had quite a bit of bone loss and the abscess (infection) under one of the molars was nasty. Strong antibiotics, liquid pain meds, she was doing much better a week later. Then last week I noticed litterbox...

Buffy Update 4/17/21 by jmcquown[_2_]
After the teeth extractions yesterday I was able to squirt the liquid pain medication into her mouth last evening. I had some trepidations about hurting her holding her jaw but it worked out fine. She felt much better about 10 minutes later! She still hadn't eaten anything. Fortunately, the...

Another Veterinary Appointment for Buffy by jmcquown[_2_]
Buffy's left eye has been teary over the four days or so. I noticed she stopped eating her dry kibble, which she absolutely loves. She will only eat the gooshy food but even then not enthusiastically. Then I noticed her cheek under her left eye appears to be swollen. I think the poor girl...
