UPDATE: Mom in hospital by Mark Edwards
Well, it looks like a stroke, but not a major one. She is somewhat numb, has a little bit of a slur, and no aphasia to speak of. They say if she doesn't give them a hard time (grin), she may get to go home next week. My sister is keeping an eye on Lucy the cat, who seems slightly...

Felinitations: Receive Only by Yowie
Folks are aware that they can still be members of the group whilst being "receive only", right? I'm now getting rather worried because we are missing quite a few people who were on the list last year - mainly the "receive only" folks. If you want to be recieve only, all you have to do is say....

Need advice about water by GaDragonfly
Has anyone ever used a watering system similar to the bottle and tube device used for rabbits and ferrets to provide water for their cats? Rosco and Meeka are creating a serious water hazard at our house. We want to make sure there is water for everyone but the kittens insist on water dancing. ...

My Mom, 1942 - 2008 by ChildFree23
For those who don't already know, my mom (GranMeowmie to the cats) has been battling leukemia since July 2007. Early yesterday, around 1:05 AM, she lost her battle. I was in the hospital with her, holding her hand, when she was pronounced. My dad, my sister (who flew down from Indiana), and...

Mom's out of ICU by jmcquown[_2_]
They've transferred her to a room and she's doing well. Thanks for all the good wishes. I'll be over there bright and early tomorrow with some flowers for her. Don't know when to expect her home but I've arranged hospice care to come help out. Jill

cat art goes conceptual by Jack Campin - bogus address
I answered an ad on the Edinburgh Gumtree small ads site from an art student who wanted to collect the purrs of 100 cats for a project. After a couple of misunderstandings she came round today and recorded a few of ours on her Edirol digital recorder (Splodge and Ollie weren't in a purry...

Intruder in the night by Christina Websell
Yesterday I was awoken at 4 a.m. by the noise of a cat fight and galloping feet. KFC and Boyfriend do have their ups and downs but they rarely actually fight although it has been known, once or twice, and always in the night. I briefly considered getting up and going downstairs into the cold...

Is something wrong with Icanhazcheezburger? by jmcquown[_2_]
I can't seem to copy/past the URLS anymore, it stops before I get to the link showing the jpeg. And no, it's not because it was hijacked by a trojan. Any clues? Jill

two rude awakenings by John F. Eldredge
This morning, as I was just starting to wake up, I stretched my legs, and one foot poked out from under the covers. Unfortunately, I accidentally poked Cinders, who was asleep on that section of the bed. She expressed her displeasure by slapping my toe with her claws out. It didn't break the...

It's raining, it's pouring by jmcquown[_2_]
my kitty cat is snoring :) Persia is on one of the chairs snoring her head off. My mother had me put a sheet over the living room sofa so Persia wouldn't shed on it. Well, it never occurred to her Persia would take a liking to the Thai silk cushions on the teak "elephant chairs". The chairs...

Kitty Crisis Averted by Candace
Sheesh, guess what? I go out to feed the outdoor kitties about 8am and there is the teeniest, tiniest baby kitten out there, seriously not more than 3 weeks old, if that. It was easy to get cuz it's so tiny it couldn't get away. It was actually marked a lot like Google, our newest kitten (he is...

Six months by Adrian[_2_]
It has been six months now since Shadow decided to move in. The transformation has been incredible, he's such a loving cat who talks a lot he also often plays like a kitten. When I think of how he was before he was neutered it's wonderful how relaxed and happy he is now. -- Adrian (Owned by...

Update 3 on my mother by jmcquown[_2_]
Now they're doing surgery even though they said her heart wasn't strong enough to withstand it. Apparently it's a better choice than dosing her constantly with pain medication. I don't expect her to survive it. I can't find Persia! I need my kitty. Jill
