Too cruel? by 223rem
I'd like to teach my two rather wimpy kittens to hunt, or at least to give them something entertaining and instructive to do. I want them to be more like my girlfriends' cats, that cool cat who killed bunnies and birds. I am considering the idea of buying several small rodents from the pet store...

Tattle tale keeps cat off glass table by Monique Y. Mudama
On 2005-01-14, Barb penned: Bought a little alarm through a catalog- I've seen these in a couple of catalogs- and it works! My two older cats never go on the glass top coffee table or the glass top table by the mirrored wall. They are allowed everyplace else. But the baby (2 years old)...

Which litter an tray is best by Rach
Hi every1, I was just wondering if anyone had any views on which type of litter (clay, wood, catsan, silica) is best to use. AND which kind of litter tray? Has anyone tried the 'self-cleaning ones'? I have one kitten (he is 10 weeks old). Any thoughts will be a great help

Meetoo checked into hospital overnight tonight- I'm nervous by SPillus
Hi, My original post about Meetoo was about her arthritis but her blood test came back and the vet said her calcium is high. Her potassium is low. She also has an elevated heart rate. They are keeping her overnight to give her an IV containing potassium and some insulin. I did not speak to the vet...

Vomiting: only nocturnally by Jay Goldstein
My 12 year old male tabby is exhibiting behaviour that has my vet stumped. For the last few weeks he vomits once a day. The vomiting always occurs somewhere between midnight and 6 a.m. The vomit consists of a small amount of liquid that looks like the residue of the dry cat food he is fed. On...

What breed of cat is this one? by [email protected]
This cat behaved so unlike any other cat I ever had. For a start, it rarely ever meowed, instead, it cooed like a pigeon. It also had those thick horizontal long hairs in the ears, perhaps you can see them in the first pic. It was also extremely smart. It had a very strange personality, as if it...

Any advice on RENAFOOD to maximize kidney function in older cat? by Rick
Hi, I had my cat Callie to the vet a couple of months ago for a checkup and the doc told me she had to have a tooth extracted but he did bloodwork first and found certain kidney levels were a little elevated so she was put on a special diet of Hill's k/d prescription food. She does not like this...

Exercise for Indoor Cats? by claudel
Anybody have cats that will run a treadmill or a wheel? Any other suitable-to-the-boss ways of getting them some exercise? Bubba's getting to be a bit of a fatass at 22Lbs and reducing his food only seems to go so far, plus it ruins his normally sunny disposition when the food dish goes empty.

"Multicat" litter: what makes it multi? by Robotech_Master
I've noticed that one of the flavors of cat litter I can get (I use Arm & Hammer) calls itself "Multicat". Given that I'm about to be a multicat owner, I'm curious what the difference is between that and "ordinary" litter. I have seen that the texture of the granules is noticeably different, but...

Vent/Rant - Persians by KellyH
Poor Persians. Bred for a feature which makes it hard for them to breathe and leaves them susceptible to upper respiratory infections. Purchased for their beauty and status as a "rich person's cat", but then neglected because they require so much work. We get yet another Persian in horrible...

Detached Retinas...plus cataracts.. by St. Louis Cat Woman via CatKB.com
Hi, I recently adopted a 10 year old blind cat from the shelter..Just felt so bad for the poor thing. I live in a quiet apartment, no kids or other pets (well, a hermit crab). I'm a senior citizen, so I do not want a kitten that will live for 20 years! Now it's just us two old ladies. She has...

Is this cat food okay? by Jeff Harper
Hi, Have two cats. One is way overweight, the other fine. They've been free-feeding their whole lives--in recent years, dry weight-management kibble. Decided to feed less.. feed only a couple times a day and use canned wet food.

Digital bath scale for people as well as cats? by RPSinha
Both I and my cat need a weighing scale and I was wondering if we could get by with one. For myself, I don't require analysis of water, fat, bone, etc.; accurate and consistent weight readings would do. Good readable display etc. For the kitty, I was thinking it should be accurate to 0.1 lbs....

Cat scratcher emery board no more clipping? by barb
Has anyone tried the new curved cat scratcher on a wooden base? Supposedly it files their nails down so you don't have to clip. One of my cats hates to be clipped. Barb

My Lovely Tom Cat by Babypink
Hi I have had my lovely tom cat from a kitten and he is now 3 years old. I have never owned a tom cat before and he is just so adoreable, but there is a behaviour that he does religiously every single morning and wondered why he does it. He sleeps in the house but late at night he always...

update on Jack's swallowed toy by Governor George Liquor
About 15 minutes ago, I stepped away from the Monday Night Football game (which the Bucs seem determined to give away) for a few moments, and when I returned there was a small but grotesque puddle in the hall off my living room. Promiently featured in it was a much-abused segement of...

non-kitten sucking behavior by J1Boss
Carey, 10 yo tortie, has a probable brain tumor (everything else ruled out and decision was made to treat this assumption), her meds seem to help her behavior MOST days, although not completely. Her physical self is stabilized by them though. Since kittenhood, she has been a "sucker". She...
