Surgery -- megacolon by
Rhonda
Okay, looks like our cat may have emergency surgery for mega colon as
soon as we can find a surgeon.
Our regular vet says it looks like she has an old injury, a broken
pelvis, or a congenital problem that makes her pelvic area much smaller
than it should be.
For whatever reason, things have...

swollen feet on cat by
niko
My cat is about 12 years old, she has been in not great health as of
late, she ran away a while back and must have been trapped somehwere
for a quite a while, about a week. She finally made it home and she was
obviously starving, she was skin and bones.
We have taken her to the vet, and he has...

Cat Has Bad Aim at the Litter Tray by
Jack
I adopted a tortie from the cat shelter a week ago. She's settled in
fine and seems very happy.
When she uses the litter tray to poop, she seems to prefer to sit in one
half of the tray and point her rear at the edge. This means most of it
goes over the edge onto the newspaper. It's a normal...

Espy and the Roomba by
dgk
I finally broke down and bought a Roomba (automatic vacuum). The first
thing I have to do is find a clear spot against a wall, plug in the
docking station, and let the Roomba charge for 16 hours or so. Once it
starts charging, you aren't supposed to do anything with it until it's
done.
No more...

Cloudy Cornea by
Medea
My beautiful 16 pound Siamese marked longhair, overnight
developed a mildly clouded cornea. The left eye is bright blue and
clear, but the right eye is mildy cloudy. The pupil reacts to light,
the eye does not seem irritated or running, and it does not seem to
bother him. The right eye looks gray...

Needd Good Home for Cats by
[email protected]
My family is very sad about this, but we must find new homes for our
cats. My wife has developed allergies, that over the lastg three
years have become so severe she is now on asthma medication.
We can't bear the thought of our 'children' being euthanised at a
local shelter. We found a no-kill...

Nik
Does anyone know why my female Norwegien Forest Cat ( 3yrs old) spends
most of her midle of the night time collecting socks from ourlinen
basket & bedrooms. She wanders around the house meowing loudly &
depositing them all up the hallway. She has done this ever since we got
her as a kitten. If I...

Frustrated about yet more stinky feet by
Cheryl
Rhett has had a history of getting infections on his paws, though
for varying reasons. Several times the vet diagnosed an allergic
reaction (yes, another with allergies!! :( The last time she said
one of his paws looked burned, but if it was a burn, it could only
be carpet burn. He tears...

A new method of feeding pills to cats? by
223rem
My trick is simple: I dip the pill and my fingers in cooking oil
before medicating the cat.
This achieves two things:
1. the oily pill goes down the throat fast and does not
get stuck on the tongue
2. the cat's muzzle gets oily from my fingers and he starts licking his
chops right away, and that...

ringworms by
Have a lovely affectionate INDOOR kitten named Nika. Only one real problem.
Somehow, somewhere she picked up ringworms. I'm about ready to give up.
Just when I think it's under control it seems to spread.

Holly's 13th annifursary by
MaryL
Tomorrow (Nov. 24) is the 13th annifursary of the day I adopted Holly. She
is very special - my little shadow, my loving companion, and Duffy's "big
sister" for the last 4½ years. Her name when I adopted her had been Jinx,
so-named because she is solid black and therefore supposedly "bad...

What do cats do at night outside? by
honeybunch
I wonder why a neutered cat with a bit of arthritis in his rear leg
loves to stay out all night long in freezing weather. What goes on
out there? I live in an old surburban neighborhood in Philadelphia.
There is a high wall at the bottom of my garden separating it from a
school for the blind. ...

Statistics and studies or the lack therof by
kaeli
I was sitting here wasting some time while I wait for some of my jobs to
complete and I thought it might be interesting and informative to do a
study on the two most controversial subjects out there right now in the
field of cat care - EAN and declawing.
There is a definite lack of good studies...

We are thinking of setting one up since this group has become such a
wasteland. It would be through an easily-accessible venue such as
Yahoo, etc. Would anyone here be interested in participating? If so,
please send me an email - address in header is valid.
Thanks!

I have been caring for my father's cat, Jade, a chocolate tortie, since

take to me too. She has had a rough go of it what with stomatitus but the
depo kept it under control. She was diagnosed with squamous cell...
