can clavimox kill a cat? by
lakinapook
On Friday evening we brought her to the vet because of a urinary
problem, they kept her overnight, and then released her the next day
with clavamox (an antibiotic) to give twice a day. Saturday seemed to
go OK, she wasn't exactly energetic, but no one was really expecting
her to be anyway. Then...

of mice and cats by
Dennis Carr
OK, weird subject, but probably not what you think.
While at the optometrist today, my wife and I stopped by a local pet shop
where we purchased two mice and accessories for rodent keeping in our
apartment. Aside from my umbrage at how the little guys were treated by
the rodent handler (the moron...

Anyone's Cat Have Asthma? by
Gail
My 9-month old spayed female has been diagnosed with asthma. She is being
treated with Brethine and prednisone, along with an ointment for an
opportunistic
eye infection. Has anyone had any experience with this ... or suggestions?
Thanks, Gail

raw feeding / home diets - opinions? by
Lotte
I've read a lot, pro and con, about raw meat and other home made diets for
cats. What do people here think of them? Does anyone here make their own
cat food? I like the idea, but I'm afraid I would leave out some essential
nutrient, or else my cats would get sick from the raw meat. Is there...

oh no, my cat ate string! (long) by
tonks
Hi group, Frequent reader, infrequent poster here.
I need some advice, and hopefully some encouraging words that my boy
will be ok. Let me say first that I've already spoken to my vet this
morning about this, and it's basically a wait and see situation.
Anyway, here's what happened
This morning,...

farting kittens by
superfly75017
Hello,
Last week, my girlfriend and I adopted 2 femaile kittens that are 11 weeks
old. We called them Lepa and Joy. In the past I had adult cats who thrived
on science diet so when the kittens arrived I put them on science diet for
kittens with chicken (little pellets or balls). They get that...

Dilemma/Annie-loooong by
MacCandace
Okay, my turn to have a dilemma. Some of you may know that we now have only 2
cats, Scottie, 7, neutered male, and Abbey, 3, spayed female. On 3/27 (3
months ago today), we had our beloved Cory, 18, euthanized. In 2001, we had
Miles, only 8, euthanized, and in, 1999, we had Emily, 14,...

Barricading my balcony. Half-funny, half-serious. by
kaeli
Okay, so Rowan, my little *darling* (cough, cough), has decided that she
REALLY wants to be on the balcony. If the door is open, she does
whatever she has to do to get out there. She just sits there and watches
the world go by. She doesn't do anything evil that I've noticed. But I'm
still really,...

Impaction? by
Jennifer
My cat, Toby, has a dark-colored, hard bump on one side of his anus.
It's a little smaller than a baby-pea. I can also just barely see a
very small bump on the other side. He hasn't exhibited any signs of
anal gland problems, though - no scooting, etc. He eats dry Iams food
and isn't overweight....

And I thought my cat was fat... by

It may seem that I am making light of this, but I really don't think it's
very funny. My cat *is* slightly overweight but not so much that it affects
her health, and I do watch her intake very carefully (she's still on a
diet--it's been a very slow...

Nic has passed by

I just wanted everyone to know that we did put Nic to sleep earlier
today. Even within the span of two days he had slipped further
downhill...this morning he was staggering so badly he nearly fell
over. He wouldn't eat or drink or acknowledge any of us...he was just
so sad. We sat him with...

Just got the bad news: Feline Leukemia by
ed farr
I took home a stray from my job last Thursday. He was underweight and
did not eat or drink much after we brought him home. He also vomited
several times and slept a lot . We took him to the vet today and a
blood test was taken. Not more than a hour later the vet's office
called to inform us he...

Hyperthyroidism by

Just got the (pre dental)lab results back for my 14 yr old tabby and
found out that he has a T4 of 118 nmol/L. The dental cleaning will be
delayed until his thyroid condition is under control.
We have decided that pilling him with Tapazole is not an option
because he hates pilling and even goes...

Jumper won't go down by
Ruby Tuesday
Hi,
I have a Siamese kitten (6 months), who now can jump up on my dresser and
dining table. My problem is this: at night, when I'm ready to go to
sleep, he wakes up (from having slept through most of the the day), goes and
does some stuff, then jumps up on my dresser. I wouldn't ordinarily...

how to train service cats ? by
Alan Horowitz
plenty of service dogs out there, because they take to training like
ducks to water.
But I want to train service cats, because they're better at several
things than dogs are.
How do professionals trtain cats? Any literzture out there, or on

Keep x-rays by
Teddy
I brought Bear's x-rays home a few days ago. The vets wife called
yesterday and demanded I bring them right back. She said someone would
come by there and check their x-rays and want to know where they were.
Does this make sense? I didn't intend to keep them but now I'm curious.
I just got their...

bony to me.
He passes a lot of gas and has smelly loose, yellowish...

laser pointer tried with dog... by
Shaggin
I decided since my cats loved this laser pointer so much I would try it with
my dog just to see what he thought. He didn't even seem to notice it he just
kept running around with his tennis ball in his mouth ignoring the red dot.
I tried it for awhile but he just didn't seem to care. :)

Kitten had seizures by
KellyH
Yesterday, my foster kitten Ana, about 4 months old but underweight (she was
a stray just recently brought to the shelter), had a seizure around 4:30 pm.
I was taking a nap at the time and heard a thumping noise and meowing. I
found her on the floor drooling and looking out of it. I picked her...
