Cat licks plastic bags by
NevaYouMindWhoItAint
Just wondering if any of you would know why our three year old cat likes to
lick plastic bags and also photos. I'm always worried that there is some
chemical on these items and would cause Tux to get sick.
Does anyone else experience this and would any of you know why?
Thanks in advance

One cat stalking, attacking other cat F/F by
[email protected]
My cat, Gracie, is a pretty hefty and muscular female, about three
years old. My new roommate's cat is considerably smaller and about the
same age. My cat, of course, is the aggressive one. The thing is, she
has been around other cats, introduced into their environments and had
one introduced into...

Cat's ears--how far down can I go? by
New cat owner
I am a new cat owner--I adopted a stray young cat dropped off at my
cousin's house Thanksgiving.
He has been having a problem with one of his ears. Vet said it was a
yeast infection and gave me some drops to use for two weeks. I came
up north for the summer and wanted to make sure the ear was...

Chewing kitten by
New Mommy
I've just recently gotten a kitten. She was a stray abandoned by her
mother. I've never had a cat before, so I'm fairly new to taking care
of them. Simba (that's her name) likes to "chew" on my hands, instead
of playing with her toys. I've tried the wands and other feathery toys
to distract her...

Encouraging to drink water? by
Newbie
My cat seems to have zero interest in drinking any water I put out. I
mostly feed her canned food, which is supposed to have "enough water
for processing". However, there are times when I have to leave dry food
around.
In any event I'd feel better if I saw her drink water regularly. With
food, I...

Any Costco members here? by
Newbie
I don't have a Costco near me but could buy through a friend if they
have premium canned food at attractive prices. If you are a member,
which brands do they carry (Fancy Feast, Pro plan, Wellness?) and at
what prices? Thanks.

How/where to buy preimun canned food at lowest prices? by
Newbie
Both my cat and I are sold on canned food. Her tastes are also very
refined, she especially prefers Pro Plan and Fancy Feast. Problem, is
these ar equite expensive, day in day out.
Any strategies on where or how I can get best prices on them? I would
love to average 25 c/can, otherwise whatever is...

Anyone try the new gravies? by
Newbie
New to me at least. Pet store are selling gravy, bottles look pretty
close to salad dressing.
One thing I can't understand, how are they meant to be used? After all
most cat food sold has its own flavors and gravy. Does it work if you
add another flavor? Or arethey meant to dress up food you...

Food behavior by
Newbie
A coupke questions inspired by my cat's eating (mis)behavior:
(1) I have been feeding my cat one 5.5 oz can daily split between two
meals. I open a can, give her 1/2, refrigerate the rest, use it later.
But lately she has started resisting left-over food. I know she likes
that kind of food, she...

Cat spends whole days in our bed! by
Newbie
We are inexperienced, with a new cat. She has had quite a few favorite
spots to rest, from an outside chair to various rugs in the house.
Lately she has decided to spend whole days on our bed. Is this harmless
or should we coax her out of this? In other words, should there be an
enforced...

Quality "chunks in gravy" food? by
Newbie
Someone had mentioned in another thread that her cat doesn't like to
eat paste-like food, preferring "chunks in gravy". My cat must has the
same taste. But for some reason premuim canned food tends to be paste.
Maybe most cats like it, but mine doesn't.
If you can recommend some good values in...

How to slow down my cat's eating? by
Newbie
My cat eats too fast. No, She is not starving, she just eats everything
fast. :-) I am told this could be behind some of the vomiting.
Any experience with trying to slow down a cat's eating?

Phosphorous, ash by
Newbie
Thanks to many comments made on this board, I have learned the value of
keeping the phosphorous content low. However, most cans do not seem to
list it, or does it go by some other name too? In particular, what is
"ash"?

Meow Mix brand by
Newbie
What are your experience and opinions concerning Meow Mix (pouches)?
Randomly experimenting, I have noticed that this is one kind my cat
appreciates greatly, cleaning off the last morsel, the plate looks as
if it just came out of dishwahser. :)

How do you use catnip? by
Newbie
I have heard a lot about cats liking catnip, but how exactly do you use
it in practice? Can it be used as food additive to attract them to food
they don't otherwise find appealing?

Picky cat: Friskies or Whiskas? by
Newbie
My cat simply refuses to eat any of the nutritious premium foods I have
bought after much research! First I thought she simply doesn't like
paste and prefers chunks in gravy texture. However, that turned out to
be only half true. What she likes are chunk/gravy cans from cheaper
brands like Friskies...

Comfortable temperature range by

What is the temperature range over which cats are comfortable?
I would like to have some sense of when they must have heating or
airconditioning, and I don't necessarily want to go by human instincts.

Canned food labels 102 by
Newbie
Starting with no experience or knowledge, initially I just bought the
cheapest. My cat loved it.
Then I read around a little and learned to avoid "by-products" as well
as grains at the top of the ingredient list. (The cat was underwhelmed
by the new "premium" food, but a little experimenting...
