Why do they sleep on my clothes? by Blastforth
My two cats have an entire large bed with comforter to sleep on. Why, however, do they invariably chose to sleep on whatever article of clothing I've laid on the bed (suit jackets, sweaters, whatever)?

Old Cat questions by Blastforth
My dad's cat is at least 16 years old. He doesn't seem to be in any distress but all the hair on his belly fell out, and the skin on his lower abdomen is droopy (maybe he needs a little kitty truss). And he seems to be a little on the thin side. He's done surprisingly well as an indoor/outdoor...

Chronic Renal Failu Low protein, or good protein? by BLink
Our old-cat Tiger has just been diagnosed with CRF. The vet recommends prescription low-protein, grain-supplemented cat food, but in Elizabeth Hodgkins' book "Your Cat", she recommends good-quality but low-phospate protein. What has been your experience? Thanks

Looking for the source of this dramatic cat vs dog picture by BLink
Hey folks. Lost my Usenet account, and am reduced to Google.. hope you can help me out. I first saw this picture a few years ago, have seen it pop up in various spots, and it's pretty awesome. Cat takes a swipe at a snarling dog on a beach. Usually these types of spats wind up with someone...

Advice on web-based cat forums by BLink
Hey folks - I was active in the '90s as Brian Link. Since Usenet is approaching a wasteland, I wanted to ask if you have any ideas for other web forums that deal with cats. Having some cat problems atm, and could use some input. Thanks for any ideas. BLink

Cat chews everything by blkcatgal
My 1 yr old cat is chewing everything.....plastic, wood, leather, electrical cords. He especially has a fondness for the shoelaces in my husband's shoes. He chewed the heck out of a wooden spoon that I had with utensils on the kitchen counter and now he tries to chew the plastic utensils. He...

Low sided litter box? by blkcatgal
My cat is having some difficulty getting in and out of the litter box. The ones I currently have are large with higher sides. Does anyone have any recommendations for a larger box but with lower sides? I think I read somewhere here about a dog litter box that is really low on one side for easy...

Introductions not going well by blkcatgal
I took in a stray semi-feral cat over 2 months ago. She lived for 6 weeks in our basement separated from my other 2 male cats. The other 2 cats knew something was going on and could sense the new cat behind the door and occasionally heard her. When it was time to introduce the new cat to the...

More questions regarding stray cat by blkcatgal
I posted before that I took a stray cat in about a week ago (she has lived all of her life previously outside). Right now, we are keeping her in our finished basement in a cage that is 3'x6'x4'. Today we have let her out of the cage and given her free-reign of the basement (we'll keep her in...

Need help with stray cat (kinda long) by blkcatgal
I need some advice. I'm about to take in a stray cat that we found. She's about 9-10 months old and probably has lived most of her life so far outside. I've taken her to the vet and had her fixed, etc. For the past week or so we've kept her in a dog cage at my husband's store where she gets...

Another Cat by blkcatgal
I'm thinking of getting another cat as a companion to me and my 2 year old male cat. What would be better, a female or a male? I have always been partial to male cats. I did have another male cat until recently and the two got along okay. Any thoughts? Sue

Cats act like they are starving by blkcatgal
I have 2 male cats...one is almost 3, the other is about 8 months old. They both act like I don't feed them enough. They are constantly begging for food. I currently am feeding them each about 1/2 can of food (5 1/2 oz. can) and about 1/2 - 2/3 cup of dry a day, usually given in 2 meals,...

New Recall by Royal Canin Canada by blkcatgal
Please see www.itchmo.com for the latest recall. Appears this may just involve Canadian products but I am not sure. UPDATE: The toxin found in these foods is cyanuric acid - not melamine. This is the first recall attributed to cyanuric acid. Royal Canin has discovered a new contaminant in...

Will they ever get along again? (little long) by blkcatgal
Here's the story. I have 2 cats...cat A is 3 years old. I've had him since he was a kitten. About 8 months ago, I adopted cat B who is now just over a year old. It took a little while for the 2 to get along, and while they aren't best friends, they do play together and get along okay. ...
