Earth Hour by Bobcat
Tonight, cities and communities around the world will dim or turn off the lights for an hour to draw attention to our abuse of the world's resources. And it's interesting that according to the Toronto Star, the idea began a year ago in Sydney Australia. This year there's a light-dimming rivalry...

Earthquake by Bev
As I was checking the newsgroup the whole house got a jolt. Everything is OK but it does give you a fright. Often our earthquakes are rolling ones that leave the lights swinging. Hope that is it!!! Bev -- The email of the species is more deadly than the mail.

Earthquake in CA & NV by Yowie
Everyone OK? Yowie -- If you're paddling upstream in a canoe and a wheel falls off, how many pancakes can you fit in a doghouse? None, icecream doesn't have bones.

Earthquake in LA! by Jeanne
There has been a 5.8 earthquake in eastern Los Angeles. Early reports are that it was centered in the Chino Hills area. 5.8 isn't a total disaster, but it's big enough to do some damage - please check in, Californians!

Earthquake OT by ollie2
Last night at 11.30 I was nearly jerked out of bed by an earthquake measuring 5.9. Horrible. It caused 2000 claims to be lodged so far and a lot of liquor stores and supermarkets had smashed bottles everywhere. We get a lot of earthquakes in our area of Hawke's Bay in New Zealand as we...

Earthquake this morning! by [email protected]
There was a small earthquake in my neck of the woods early this morning. However, I felt it very intensely because it was only one kilometer from my house. Here's what I wrote to Winnie, who just emailed me to ask about it: I am fine, but the quake jolted me out of sleep (it was around 5 in...

Earthquake! by Bobble[_8_]
Sonny just experienced his first earthquake today. We had a 5.5 here in Ottawa, Ontario, and it was centered 60 kms away. We were enjoying a lovely afternoon on the deck swing when it felt like a big tractor trailer rumbling down the street, and rumbling, and rumbling. After about 15...

Purrs to everyone in the areas struck by the earthquake and under the Tsunami warning. I hope everyone makes it to safety. Am I correct in thinking that Britta, Dennis, and Vino are not in the evacuated area? -- Margaret Fine

Easier than I thought! by Pat
You learn something new every day: I just found a quick way to eliminate troll/heckler messages from the NG using Outlook Express. My original process was: (1) highlight one of the unwanted messages, (2) click the Message menu, (3) select "Create Rule from Message", (3) follow those steps, (4) go...

Yesterday morning, when I stepped out of my house to go to work, a baby rabbit, about five inches long head-to-tail, hopped across my yard and disappeared under a bush. I guess the Easter bunny was making a practice run. -- John F. Eldredge -- "Reserve your right to think,...
