IAMS vs Whiskas? by
Lord_Alex
Hello all, I'm new to the group and somewhat new to raising cats (I
had cats as a kid 10 years ago).
At the end of April I decided my house was too empty, so I went to the
local animal shelter and adopted two cats - a 6 month old female
shorthair (Xerxes) and a 2 year old male Persian ragdoll with...

So what's happening Conan? by
Helen Miles
As a UK poster I've been following the Conan saga, and am now completely
confused.
What is happening to Conan, is he being adopted, collected, rehomed or
what?

Newbie with a question by
Joy
Hi all,
I'm new here, although I'm a long-time subscriber to rpca. I'm hoping
somebody has some suggestions to help a poor little feral kitty.
Five years ago I adopted two three-year-old littermates, a male and a
female. A few months ago the male got cancer and subsequently had to be
PTS. ...

licking plastic! by
Judy F
I have three cats, and all of them like to lick plastic bags. One of them
likes to chew the plastic too. Anyone else have a cat like this? Also, does
anyone think this is dangerous in any way?

Canned food - prices by
Rhonda
I am thinking of changing our herd of cats over to wet food. We had a
diabetic cat a few years ago; that's when I first heard the argument
that dry food has more carbs than a cat needs and possibly contributes
to diabetes.
My question -- with 8 cats of various ages, is there a good, affordable
wet...

Feeding questions by
Wendy
We have a 16 year old spayed female tabby, Tigger, who has a tendency to be
overweight. We got her down to 9 lbs. but this is still a little heavy for
her frame. It is imperative to keep her weight down as she has arthritis.
We also have a 1-2 yr. old long hair spayed female, Isabel. We...

Biting me while I'm asleep by
Tara
Hi everyone,
My 1-year-old kitty, Zali, has taken to biting me while I'm sleeping. She'll
bite me relatively softly the first time and wake me up. I tell her "no"
groggily (and in a near-whisper so as not to wake my partner) and then go
back to sleep. Then about five minutes later she'll bites me...

my cat's tongue turned purple! by
kitkat via CatKB.com
My cat just got back from spending the weekend at the vet's because he needed
SubQ fluids and antibiotics -
I know my cat's tongue was red - now it's purple - think its the meds or a
reaction to the meds?
I'm assuming the vet would've noticed this before otherwise she won't have
sent him home. ...

Cat pees when you pick her up by
Jacqueline
We have a female cat, just over 1 year old, that we adopted about 4
months ago. A few weeks after we adopted her we discovered blood in her
urine and took her ot the vet. She was prescribed antibiotix, which
seemed to help for a while. A month or so after we finished the
antibiotics she started...

Hmmmm… I have come to doubt this individual’s understanding of what a “Feral†cat actually is. There are, typically four types of cats seen in outdoor settings, broad brush:
a) Housecats that are allowed outdoors – common enough. In some areas, outdoor access is a requirement to...

Survey by
CatNipped
There is a lot of history going on here in rpch+b that I don't know (or even
wish to know). But I *would* like to know more about the experiences people
here have had with cats.
To that end, if you wouldn't mind I'd like to see if I could get some data
that might help me formulate opinions or...

Pro-Plan versus Fancy Feast by
cindys
Alex was recently off his food for a couple of days, so my vet suggested
that I try (canned) Pro-Plan (for the sake of its ostensible palatability),
which I did. He seemed to like a few of the flavors. However, in looking at
the labels, it lists by-products amongst the first four ingredients of...

Getting cat to use scratching post? by
[email protected]
I'm the one who has considered bringing in a stray, and did not want
to declaw her.
Before I commit to letting her in full time, I've been letting her in
for short periods (an hour or so), supervised.
I bought a sisal scratching post, and one of those cardboard
horizontal scratching pads.
When...

Is Tiki Cat cat food good quality??? by
Docberk
My wife and I adopted two 12 week old kittens about a month ago.
Initially, they were on MaxCat at the no-kill shelter where we got
them. When we were shopping for supplies, a woman who owns a mom and
pop pet store told us abotu Tiki Cat and how wonderful it is.
We gave them a few cans and it was...

My rationale for adopting and not breeding cats by
MaryL
At one time in my life (while I was still a student, which is a *good many*
years ago), I thought I wanted to get a purebred cat. I thought I would buy
one once I was established and could afford to buy a "good quality" kitten.
Well, I changed my mind once I began to read about the huge number of...

I'm trying to find a recipe for homemade cat gravy that I can store (refrig) and use as needed for a picky cat who only eats the gravy from canned food. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
