a very cat-like Christmas by Rona Yuthasastrakosol
I don't know if this link will work here, but my niece (who is 3) sent me a Christmas card that I know other cat owners would appreciate :-). http://ecardview.hallmark.com/hmk/Website/greeting.jsp?bae=3&mailID=BAE_ECARD_Order&id=EG5129-471717-51831154&userID=0 You might have to cut and paste...

Dry food and drinking at the same time by Cheryl
If a cat who will only eat dry food (good quality food) also drinks at the same time, ie eats some then drinks, then eats more, then drinks... isn't that close to the same as eating wet food, as far as their body knows? I've observed this with Bonnie and she even dribbles dry food into the water...

Is my cat schizophrenic? (Strange behavior) by Jamie Gareth
Hello All, I'm new to the cat game and to this newsgroup so forgive me if what I ask seems obvious or overasked. My cat is about 1 1/2 years old now and exhibits strange behaviors. One moment he'll seek out my company and rub up against me or sleep in my lap and the next moment he's almost afraid...

Runt w/ Defective Intestines by Chris Cooper
My daughter _had_ to have the "little" kitten. You know, the one half the size of all the others. The runt. Well, turns out he has some sort of rather unpleasant intestinal thing going on. Left to his own devices, he has constant diarrhea and the poor thing walks around with his back feet...

How much can I starve my diabetic cat ? by Roger12751
My diabetic cat weighs about 19 lbs when his ideal weight is about 16 lbs or less. According to the instruction on the Purina DM bag, a cat weighing between 17 and 20 lbs should get 108-144 g of food per day. If I give him 108 g of Purina DM per day he would still keep gaining weight. If I give...

tail twitching by Nowan
My two-year old inside/outside cat has gradually developed a twitch in his tail. While his tail is held up, he will twitch it by rotating it along its axis. Possibly with a slight side-to-side twitch of his hindquarters. This looked a little bit like spraying behavior, but without the spraying. ...

Cat and the holidays by afr
I think that most cats prefer to be on their own turf--provided they feel safe and comfortable with the person who looks in on them. ava On Mon, 15 Dec 2003, Jeannie wrote: I am going to stay with friends this Christmas and I don't know what to do with my cat. Do you think she would like it...

Strange changes in blood glucose level by Newsman
My cat Al is diabetic. A week ago last Monday I took Al to the vet for a teeth cleaning. After coming home, Al was lethargic and his appetite steadily diminished to the point where I couldn't give him his insulin. I took him back to the vet last Saturday and he was admitted to the hospital where...

Grandcat Trouble by Sherry
OK, here's one for all of you. I am babysitting the grandcat for two weeks. We've had no problems with integration, probably because my old cats are pretty well accustomed to occasional interlopers by now. This cat is about 6 months old, an orange tabby, and he is a wild child. His least endearing...

Litter box too small? by [email protected]
I was wondering why the cat wasn't burying her waste. This morning I saw what was happening. After she goes, she makes all the motions of burying, but she does it on the rim of the litterbox. She sat there for five minutes trying to "bury" her waste by clawing, scooping, and scratching the...

Peeper's Ultrasound Results by Larry Osborne
Well I finally got Peepers in for his Ultrasound, delayed somewhat by a heart attack of my own. The results indicate some very slight thickening of the walls and Septa(? hope I have that right) and some turbulence in the right ventricle if I remember correctly as to side. The shocker was his very...

Whew! Just found out my long time buddy, 12 year old Rocky, is diabetic. Looks like a rough road ahead.for both of us. Picking him up from the vet hospital in a few minutes. Is this a good support group for us, or could someone point us to other groups on this subject?. Thanks, Tom

Cats refusing to eat after long distance move...... by Matt
As some of you remember I posted some time ago about moving cats from Europe to the US. Well, the good news is that both cats made it OK. However, they are somewhat traumatized -- both cats refuse to eat. My female will eat a little bit but only when I sit down and handfeed her, she will not eat...

Exposure to heartworms and an evil cat by No1
How are heartworms transmitted? I'm concerned about this as we have had to move in with my in-laws. They have two dogs that they don't take to the vet often and both have heartworms and I'm not 100% sure they're given their medicine. Here's the issue, can it be transmitted via drinking bowls? ...

Taz & I are back from the vet! by Chrissy
Thank you, you were all right about the absess, thats what he thinks it is, he's on antibitics, and i have to bring him back in 2 weeks to make sure it's just an absess, he may lose his tooth, or front fang rather. He mentioned the word cancer, but said in his professional opinion, he thinks it's...
