Is Your Cat Left-Handed? by
FirstHit
I thought the following article was interesting:
http://www.pawnation.com/2009/08/05/cats-have-favored-paws/
In a nutshell, they contend that female cats tend to be righties, and
the males tend to be lefties.
I wonder if that applies to their politics as well as their
"pawedness." :-)

Human meat for cats? by
Stan Brown
On vet's advice I've changed Milo to an all-can diet. But I wonder
about giving him some real meat as a treat, because the canned food
isn't chewy.
So -- pros and cons of real meat or shellfish as an occasional treat?
And if okay, raw or cooked?

Blood around the house - which cat? by
dgk
There are quite a few areas of the house with dried blood drops
around. A friend feeding the cats on the last day before I got home
noticed them in one area. At least that means it didn't come from Espy
since he was staying at the vet. But it looks like either Marlo or
Nipsy (or the cat sitter!)...

Wet Food by
JP
Our cats seem to like a combination of wet food and dry food. What are
some of the better wet foods widely available that offer good
nutritional value?
Currently they are eating Fancy Feast, which I understand is not the
best wet food by any means.
If anyone knows about this, can you...

Espy not eating by
dgk[_2_]
He doesn't eat a whole lot anyway but this morning he wouldn't eat his
normal ProlPlan Salmon and Rice (wet). Nor would he eat his favoirte
dry food (Royal Canin #26 I think). Worse, he wouldn't eat the yellow
Temptations - everyone's favorite.
I was going to post this morning but instead I took...

My cat is "thinking outside the box" by
James Egan[_2_]
I have a 17 year old male cat named Chip. He started peeing and pooping
all around the house. He seemed lethargic, so I took him to the Vet,
thinking that he had a urinary tract infection. They gave him a 2-week
injection of anti-biotic. After two weeks, he was still pooping and
peeing all...

Diagnosing/treating your cat yourself by
jmc
I had a thought last night, as I was paying the $200+ vet bill.
I've a cat with known cystitis. This time it caused a UTI. Since this
is diagnosed by looking at the urine for crystals, white blood cells and
red blood cells, I was wondering if anyone's ever just done this
themselves? Got a...

tube of cat by
Hactar
I'm looking at enough of these to make a series of cat-tunnels:
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=16126
Does anyone have one? It'd suck to drop $35 on one and have it die
after a use or two. So: How small is the screen (housefly, mosquito,
midge/no-see-um)? How...

rabies shots, 1-yr or 3-yr? by
calvin
I've always (for the past 10 years) had 1-year rabies shots
for my cats, for three reasons:
1) I'm afraid, without knowing the answer, that the 3-yr shot
causes a cat more discomfort, for a longer period of time,
than the 1-yr shot. Is this true?
2) I think it's good for the vet to see all of...

Why is FeLV contagious? by
calvin
Is it a virus?
How contagious is it? Is one drink from the same
water bowl likely to be enough to catch it?
Is a cat that catches it likely to die within two months,
while the carrier lives on?
Thanks for any answers.

Outside cat is a real yowler by
dgk
I started giving this outside kitty some food - mostly leftovers from
my brood. Cute, predominantly black with the tips of his front feet
white and white socks on the rear legs. The chest and underside of his
throat is white and it carries up to his mouth so the whole face is
black except the white...

Kitten umbilical hernia by
Susan \(CobbersMom\)
I've seen plenty of these hernias in puppies, having worked for a vet for
many years (no longer). Now I have a 3 month old kitten with one (born with
it) and it appears to be enlarging slowly. Usually I can push the bowels
back in easily but now its getting a bit more difficult and I don't...

Looking for small bit senior dry cat food. by
kraut3852
I have an 19 / 20 year old kitty named "Kitty" that over the years has
lost most of her teeth. A lot of them were gone when I took her in at
4 / 5 years old with just the roots left.
Thing is that she likes her dry food but the ones I tryed for senior
or adult cats have pieces so large that she...

Sub-q fluids expiration question by
Jo
Is it ok to use the same bag for more than 5 weeks? Or should I have
stopped using it weeks ago? Someone told me that they go bad after
10-14 days. The vet never said anything about that. I just wanted to
know in case the vet says something different when I call to ask about
it.

monkey's conversation by
sukrati
Once in America a plane crashed, only a monkey who was traveling in
the plane was left alive. Fortunately the monkey was intelligent
enough to understand our language and reply in actions. The officials
went to see the monkey in the hospital and had a talk with the
monkey.
Officer: "When the...
