[OT] Amusing junk mail by
[email protected]
In the regular post yesterday, I received a piece of advertising mail
which had this warning on the outside of the envelope:
"Joyce Wermont,
Termite swarms may be headed for the San Francisco - Oakland -
San Jose area around 4/24/2006. iIs your home protected?/i"
It was not intended as a...

Happy Birthday, Nina by
Shiral
She is two years old today, my little summer solstice cesarean section
baby cat! This is the kitten the vet "Wasn't sure would make it"
because she was so tiny at birth. Some joke, as she's definitely the
dominant cat, around here! When I pick her up she feels rather like a
soft and cuddly brick....

Pandora cruciate ligament update. by
HRFLTiger
You may remember that Pandora hurt herself quite badly in March?
Well, a brief update, Pandora visited a Feline orthopeadic specialist
today as she started having problems with severe lameness in both hind
legs on Wednesday. From his assessment and X-rays, it seems that she
has congenital Medial...

Been Away by
[email protected]
It's been a crazy week. This past weekend was ComFest, that fun
old-hippie festival I do readings at every year. It's really, really
tiring and wearying, but it's where I make the bulk of my business
money for the year. Plus it is fun to see people I only see at
ComFest.
I did pretty well, and...

Pet tracking collars by
Takayuki
After hearing Smudge's story, and its wonderful conclusion, I was
wondering if people had any opinions about pet tracking collars. I've
noted at least two:

The LoCATer sounds like the better system,...

This afternoon the felines are off to their favourite holiday home for a few
days. The humans are off to France (Rennes) for a few days, leaving this
evening.
Our hotel is actually on the route of the Tour de France, apparently :-)

Lori, do you have a link to the Sherpa carrier you said you like so
much?
I did a search on Sherpa on drsfostersmith.com , but somehow I
pictured yours being different from what I find there.

The Stinkysburgh Address by
Kreisleriana
My Mom had just settled in bed last night, and was starting a little
pre-sleep reading, when Stinky came into her room, walked around the
bed , fixed her with a meaningful look, and said "MEOW MEOW MEOW
MEOW." Then he picked himself back up, and went out again. He had
just eaten, his water...

Things are still looking up by
badwilson
Seems to be going quite well for Vino so far. This morning he ate some
of an Iams pouch. I've found that microwaving the food does not help
him at all, he likes it cold. I guess it's what he's used to, being an
only cat, most of his food comes straight from the fridge.
We went for a walk on...

[Biking] Sigh!!! by
CatNipped
It's finally gotten too hot and too humid here in Houston to go biking at
*any* time of day (at least biking for exercise). I've had to resort to
using my treadmill for my exercise, but I *REALLY* miss going out on my
bike. I can't wait for fall (like 10 months from now!!!). ...

I rocked her world by
jmcquown
Persia loves her crackle sak. But it was covered in cat fur. I tried
vacuuming it but it just wasn't cutting it. And Persia is not a long-haired
cat. She's what the vet calls a medium short-hair. So I put it in the
washer. You'd think I'd transported it to another planet! She wandered
around...

Lily has sent her mowsie to Afghanistan... by

My brother is currently serving in Afghanistan. As it's his birthday in
a couple of weeks, I've been putting a package together for him of
various things like Chocolate Horlicks, which he loves, *Proper*
cadburys chocolate with honeycomb and almond, stuff like that.
Lily was watching me pack the...

Vaccination advice by
[email protected]
Recently, somebody posted here how easy it is to spread feline
distemper - that you could bring it in on your clothes, if you had
contact with an infected cat, and then give it to your own cats
if they're not vaccinated. Could the person who posted that (Kajikit,
maybe?) say more about that? Did I...

She told me :) by
jmcquown
Persia was stretched out on her side and I was giving her scritches around
her neck, then the top of her head. She was rubbing her face against my
hand. Then I rubbed down her nose - she turns her head up, mouth slightly
open... she loves this! Then I rubbed her belly. Then I was stroking her...

I'm working at home today. When I take break and look up from the

he doesn't listen. Typical teenage boy!

Whales in danger by

The unthinkable has happened:
Japan is positioned to remove critical protections for whales at this
Friday's International Whaling Commission (IWC) meeting, spelling disaster
for the world's whales.
Urge President Bush to hold Japan accountable for their actions against
whales. Help us make...

Kissakitten by
Mark Edwards
One of my nicknames for Little Boy is Kissakitten. And he's certainly
taken to it.
Whenever I hold him, or when he's at my eye level (like on top the
fridge), if I call him Kissakitten, he lunges his face at me,
expecting either kisses or nose touches. When holding him, I get the
added bonus...
