Update on Maynard by
[email protected]
I said I would post an update.
He is worse. He still couldn't keep any food down. Won't even look at
it. Everybody took turns holding him for hours. He just lays there and
purrs some of the time. He looks really depressed. He has given up.
I'm not going to make him suffer any more. He needs to...

Cat Door in House-to-Garage door? by
[email protected]
I'm wondering whether it'd be ok to install a cat door in the door that
leads from the house to the garage? We keep our cats indoors, and a
trip to the garage is their one "adventure." But getting up in the
middle of the night so they can go out and play gets old quick.
I know there are certain...

Update - Help! I need to save a cat by
KellyH
I do have someone willing to take Blossom into foster care, my friend's mom
who is very cat-savvy. She has a psycho cat on Prozac and is experienced
with difficult cats. Now the problem is, dealing with shelter politics and
getting the OK to put her foster, if you can believe that. At first we...

Grooming a long haired cat by
Margret
We have a long haired ( almost Persian)cat who goes outside into the grass,
and comes back covered in "farmers friends" ( hard grass seeds). We try to
brush them out; but it is very difficult, and it would take hours to pick
them out individually. Any ideas? (we can't keep her locked inside...

Bathroom cat on the porch by
Charlie Wilkes
The bathroom cat is on the porch in the pet porter, which is the
large-dog size and should be reasonably comfortable. I investigated
weekend vet options in the area and none were acceptable, so the cat
is parked there until tomorrow a.m.
I didn't want to risk opening the door to put a litter box...

Any experience with kitty downers? by
Justsomebody
My cat is driving me crazy with its vocalization. It wants out, and
we're trying to make it an indoor cat. That's the short story.
Anyway, I know they do prescribe things for cats. Does anyone have
experience with these medications? Do they help relax the critters so
they can relearn behaviors?

Loving cats <> taking care of cats by
Brian Link
This is just a freeform musing occasioned by several recent events -
1. Tammy Quist's homepage slogan "She will never know freedom, can she
at least know compassion?" (http://www.wildcatsanctuary.org/index.htm)
2. The decision to find another home for Henry even though I loved him
3. The "hard...

Another Meowing Post by
[email protected]
Hi all,
I know this is a common question - but I haven't really seen an answer
that I think will work. My kitty is 11 months old (we have had him for
3 months) he has adapted really well to us. Recently he has started
meowing as soon as the sun comes up. He has full rein of the house and
just...

Milk Thistle dosage and where to find Ursodiol? by
[email protected]
Phil recommended Denosyl and Ursodial. The vet said Denosyl is special
order, so I can't get that one right away. They said health stores
should have the Ursodiol, but that it may be hard to find as they
believe it has been compounded now.
So, I welcome any suugestions for chain stores that would...

My cat is vomitting stomach acid- what can i do? by
[email protected]
Hello, My cat has been vomitting stomach acid lately and not eating
much, very lethargic. He's been eating dirt which I've been told is
what cats do when they have too much stomach acid. He's not anemic,
I've had him tested for everything, kidneys are good, FIV negative. Any
ideas how I can help...

LOW WBC, but Negative Feline Leukemia test by
[email protected]
Hello all, I have been reading your postings to try to find information
out there. It's so nice to hear so many other people who care about
their pets as much as I do. My cat, Simba, hasn't been totally himself
lately so I brought him in for blood tests. The vet said all seems
normal except his WBC...

My friend came over late yesterday afternoon. Somehow the gray one had
gotten back INTO the bedroom... anyway, long story short - they ar both safe
& sound. Whew! They are calmer with me today. They'll be living in that
room for awhile I think. They're SO CUTE!
Thanks all, Carol

Does anyone know have a reference range for 'blood gas' results.. by
Lucrezia Borgia
I'm talking about the tests which I think are done with small blood
samples, not full blood panels. They have labels such as PACO2, PVCO2,
PAO2, PVO2. These particular ones are arterial and venous carbon
dioxide and oxygen levels in the blood. Another one is HCO3.
I have a bunch of test results...

Can fluid or transfusion overload cause heart failure?..long.. by
Lucrezia Borgia
Several weeks ago, my cat had to be admitted to an animal hospital for
emergency surgery to remove bladder stones which were blocking his
urinary tract. A few hours before surgery, his BUN was 70 and his
packed cell volume % (PCV) was in normal ranges. Four hours after
surgery, his PCV% dropped...

bringing in cat - update by
jr via CatKB.com
Sunday update:
Both cats have their claws but do have them trimmed. For the most part the
male (resident cat) ignores the door but when he hears the female (new
resident) he comes over and still growls and hisses. Just a few moments
ago, there was a lashing out between them, paws going after one...

Indoor cat, rec idea by
bigbadbarry
If someone had the right house, they could develop thier rooftop into rec
space for themselves and their pets, this would definetely eliminate
straying and getting lost.
If you live in a highrise, you probably already have a walkable rooftop, we
used to hang out on the roof when I lived downtown,...
