anymore info on pancreatitis ? by kitkat
Phil P...I'm looking in your direction. :) Jasper has basically slept ALL day. He did get up to use the cat box a few times. The turkey meat that he hate...he barfed up. So it looks like tomorrow we start the regimen of prednisone. We still have to give him half of his dose of amoxicillin since he...

Tapazole and blood clots by KellyH
Has anyone ever heard of Tapazole causing blood clots? A few days ago, a cat at the shelter who was hyperthyroid threw a clot and was rushed to the vet's, but died. It was very sad. Somehow it's gotten around that the Tapazole caused or contributed to the cat developing a blood clot. We...

Picky Eaters by .oO rach Oo.
I thought I'd seen it all but of course, I am wrong. Stella and Delilah have voiced their opinion that they don't like left overs so instead of getting the large tins of food, they get the mini ones now. They can split one per meal. Ok fine. Since watching a show on cats this past week on A&E, I...

Is there a real vet in this group? by BuZZard
Just wondering if there was a real pet vet in here.. or.. are you all just playing doctor? And as far as *this* group goes... I think some of you are pretty cool.. but most of you are arrogant ****s. The name of this froup is called news:alt.pets.cats.health+behav So basically, you want the cat...

My 'little' Farfou had to go in emergency to the vet last Tuesday. He was diagnosed with struvite crystals. The vet kept him until Sunday afternoon. He was very uncorfortable and unhappy for about 24 hours peeing everywhere except in the litter box. I give him amoxidrops (antibitotic) and on...

Out old 17 calico female got out tonight and got attacked by another cat. We interrupted before the feral cat could kill her. She is small, deaf and bit senile I think. It 2am and there is not a vet with emergeny in our area. I grabbed her and brought her in the house and inspected. There were...

Frequent, Watery Vomiting by MaryL.
My cat for a few days now has been vomiting a few times a day, and of course manages to always get it onto furniture, rugs, etc, even though most of the house is wood floors....argh! On a more serious note, though, the vomit is not "regular" vomiting...he usually produces a little pool of watery...

Help! My cat is trying to live somewhere else. by Iso
Why don't you try keeping your cat inside your home? That will probably solve the problem of it visiting your neighbor's home and fighting with their cat. Furthermore, it will solve the running away problem. "mich" wrote in...

Indoor cats:Quality of life (again) by blair thompson
Wow! I think I started this thread...at least the most recent incarnation of it a while back, on Sept. 2. I appreciate all the input and suggestions. Consensus was to get a pair of cats, and, if possible, have some sort of screened enclosure so they could venture out, get fresh air, etc. That's...

Abbey's ultrasound/no good news by Candace
Abbey just got back from her ultrasound (echocardiogram). She has no heart problems; we were hoping she would have heart disease that could be treated. Her lungs are badly scarred from the chyle, which we knew. She has a mass of about 1" x 3/4" that they cannot tell if it's a tumor at the base of...

Would you leave food out for raccoons? by Kiran
I have a cat but this is not about her, it is about a group of raccoons (one adult and five children). They have been spotted sniffing around our and our neighbors' yards and porchces this summer, mostly late nights. General consensus on the street is to have no food or food smells that will...

Tapazole question by ElvisRocks
I posted last weekend about my cat & the vet started him on Tapazole (generic) 5 mg. a day. He looks worse since I started giving him the medicine although he's still eating & drinking & getting up in windows to look out, etc. Does anyone know if that medicine can (as in people) cause them to be...

Home euthanasia by Nightstar
I don't even want to think about this but know I must prepare for the inevitable with my beloved cat, Pop. I think I can find a vet to do home euthanasia but wanted to know what happens with the body? Does the vet take it? I know it is probably the most difficult and sad decision one has to make...

Claw Clipping by .oO rach Oo.
I was just wondering what your opinion is on the best tool to clip a cat's claws. Would you use a nail clipper specifically for cats or one for humans? I've seen both used but since I will be starting to do this in the near future (the vet showed us how today) I want to make sure the best and...

Hi All: Another update on Rutherford the Brave, the floor-****ing and wall-spraying cat... Last night I caught him squatting RIGHT after I cleaned the litter box (about two hours after) in the 4 foot area that he has destroyed in our living room with his urine. I feel that he MUST have known he...
