Today is Duffy's Adoption Anniversary (3rd year) by
MaryL
Today is the 3rd anniversary of Duffy's adoption, and what happy years they
have been! Duffy is a true delight, a wonderful, bright, active, loving
little cat. While browsing through some files last week, I came across a
message I posted on Jan. 27, 2003 just after I had made the decision to
adopt....

Another Cat by
blkcatgal
I'm thinking of getting another cat as a companion to me and my 2 year old
male cat. What would be better, a female or a male? I have always been
partial to male cats. I did have another male cat until recently and the
two got along okay.
Any thoughts?

Cat Puke by
Rachel
Yes, my cat is a puker! We have mixed breed long haired male cat that
was nuetered as a kitten. We got him as a kitten and now that he is 2
years old he seems to be puking a lot. We haven't changed his food or
anything. The puke doesn't have hair in it. It just looks like the
food but...

Cat with pseudomona aeruginosa -- any insight? by
Paula Sims
Hello everyone,
After almost 3 years of searching, finding, and stumbling my cat's
chronic coughing has been diagnosed as a pseudomona aeruginosa organism.
Gypsy is 10 years old. She's on 3/4 of a 22.7 mg of Orbax and had been
since mid-Jan and it's somewhat helping. Her coughing bouts...

Nasal vaccinations by
blkcatgal
Anyone here have any experience with vaccinations given nasal? I just
adopted an 8 month old kitten from a shelter and they told me he was given a
nasal vaccination. I'm curious about the effectiveness of a nasal vaccine.
Does anyone have any info on this? I'm taking the kitten to my own...

Cats & Coffee by
Ruby Tuesday
Usually in the morning when I prepare my coffee, I've got grains of it
covering my hand, from spooning it out of the bag. Mico LOVES to lick the
stuff off of me. Is this a good thing or what?
Thanks in advance,
- Ruby Tuesday

Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA): Anyone Know Anything About It? by
Elle
Has anyone done any work with this association?
I do some volunteer work for an animal rescue organization, recognized as a
charity under law, blah blah. It provides labor for certain CFA shows, and
in return, CFA makes a nice charitable contribution and (truly) helps
promote rescue cat adoption....

Sticky Paws by
Pixi
Hi,
I have a 15 year old tabby called Rosie. She is still very fit and
healthy and enjoys scratching anything that comes her way. However,
over the past couple of months she has started to get her claws stuck
in clothing, carpets, etc. as she can't retract them properly. She has
never been one...

Hyperthyroid cat...update and a question by
[email protected]
All,
Just wanted to drop a note to everyone to let them know that Katie's
thyroid has finally stabilized and her dosage is one half a Tapazole
daily. Her behavior has changed somewhat since she's been on the
meds. She's become a lot more needy and loves to sit on my lap all
the time. This is...

Cat with low level infection by
Perry Justus
My youngest cat (born in September 2002) was taken to the vet today
because she was licking herself a lot and had some whitish vaginal
discharge. I was afraid it might be pyometra, because she hasn't been
fixed but stays indoors (trust me, I know that was stupid - no need to
educate me). The vet...

Question - Sensitivity to Diet Change? by
Derek Mark Edding
Hi Folks,
Last August, our 9 year old male DSH had a large bladder stone.
Fortunately we discovered it early enough. He was cathetherised for a
couple of days, and treated with drugs.
Once he was back at home, our veterinarian had us switch him from his
premium dry food to Science Diet s/d. In...

Medical reasons for not purring? by
[email protected]
Hi, first-time poster here. I adopted a 3-year-old cat about five
months ago and have been trying to figure out why he doesn't purr. He's
a very affectionate cat, doesn't seem at all traumatized. But he simply
doesn't purr. He does make a bit of a squeaky noise every now and
again, but it's not at...

CRF cat vomiting after fluids by
Corey Kaye
Ah, the joys of managing a CRF cat ;)
Ginger is on 100 cc's of Normosol-R sub-q twice a week. Approximately 10
minutes after fluids she vomits bile or a small amount of food and bile, 3
or 4 times.
I am experienced in administering fluids to felines--worked for a vet for
several years. I'm...

housepainting and cats' health by
[email protected]
I need to paint my living room. I'll keep my cats, Shiloh and Tiger, in
another part of the house until the job's done.
My concern is that the paint job involves patching up holes with
spackle/plaster and sanding them down before painting. As you may know,
this creates a huge amount of fine dust....
