Two homes and cats by
[email protected]
Me and my partner both work from home and are considering buying a
second home (actually a flat) which we intend to travel between on a
weekly basis - one week in one place another in the other. All we need
to work is an internet connection so it would be quite feasible.
However, we have two cats....

Rutherford, at it again! by
jimmy the LD
Hi All:
Another update on Rutherford the Brave, the floor-****ing and wall-spraying
cat...
Last night I caught him squatting RIGHT after I cleaned the litter box
(about two hours after) in the 4 foot area that he has destroyed in our
living room with his urine. I feel that he MUST have known he...

AlexZ
How long can I keep opened canned food if it is:
1. Left in a plate for her to eat? (apartment temp 60 deg F)
2. In a tightly closed can in the room? (apartment temp 60 deg F)
3. In a tightly closed can in the refrigerator?
Thanks.

what material for climbing? by
John Doe
There has to be some material cats can use for indoor climbing
besides carpet or Sissel rope. Maybe something that also can be
attached to a 2 x 4. Maybe some sort of plastic grating (yes, of
course it will have to be safe). Next time I go to the hardware
store, I plan to spend a lot of time...

Preventing mats by
---MIKE---
I had to have Tiger shaved back in June to get rid of a lot of bad mats.
I want to get a grooming brush that will help me to prevent future mats.
What is the best one for this purpose (Zoom Groom)? TIA

Cat diarrhea - Tylan and/or Biosol by
[email protected]
Hello,
I have two sphynx kittens (7 months). The male has chronic loose stool
regardless of what food I have fed him. The female has been fine since
I started feeding them Nutro Natural Care. They both had CBCs and
everything is normal.
I went to an odd sort of vet who prescribed Biosol, which...

New Onset Spraying in 13 year old Himalayan male by
Nancy
Subject: New Onset Spraying in 13 yr old neutered Himalayan male
For the last 6 months, a female cat and her two kittens have taken
over our yard (and we've been feeding them but mostly keeping them out
of the house.) Mr. Redford our 13 year old cream point Himalayan and
only house cat has been...

FLUTD and what to expect????? by
afr
I realize this post is nearly a year old, but since I am here for the same
issue, I thought I'd attach my concerns to this post.
Ninetten days ago, my 8 1/2 year old cat george was howling. I took him
into the ER and he was blocked. They unblocked him, and my vet kept him
for a few days and sent...

Standing up to head-butt your the palm of your hand by
John Doe[_2_]
My Calico stands on its hind legs to butt the palm of my hand when my
hand is raised above its head. Sometimes it grabs my hand but rarely
uses its claws. It obviously enjoys that, it will do it three or more
times in a row consistently. So I wonder how it learned. I've been
trying to teach my...

does your cat twitch while sleeping? by
John Doe
Right now, Kiki is lying on my left arm and chest, sleeping and
obviously dreaming (I compute while lying down). Sometimes when she
falls asleep, she starts to twitch like a dog does but not so
obviously. I'm sure it is common, but just in case, are others are
familiar with it?

Cat play circle by
Betsy
After last Monday's escapade with the baby squirrel I was hoping for a
little respite. No such luck. Yesterday as I was vacuuming I pushed aside
a piece of furniture and one of my cats was shortly thereafter quite
animated. I went downstairs, came up an hour later and found 5 cats in...

Tapazole and blood clots by
KellyH
Has anyone ever heard of Tapazole causing blood clots? A few days ago, a
cat at the shelter who was hyperthyroid threw a clot and was rushed to the
vet's, but died. It was very sad. Somehow it's gotten around that the
Tapazole caused or contributed to the cat developing a blood clot. We...

Water for strays in winter? by
Ajanta
I am brainstorming how to assist my stray during the holidays season
when we would gone for about 10 days.
A friend is willing to come every 1-2 days and put out dry food just
outside the door.
However, I can't figure out what to do about water if the temperatures
are below freezing?

Sick cat by
Bill Graham
We feed a stray cat. He isn't really a stray, because we have seen him go
into another house down the block. But since he has no collar or chip, we
suspect they don't own him either. At any rate, he is sick. His thyroids
aren't working properly and he is skinny as a rail even though he eats at...

Good News and Bad News (a foster update). by
Kalyahna
The good news: Malcolm went back to the humane society, into the multiple
cat room. He's in hog heaven. Chowing down, loving the other kitties. What's
amusing is that he's a big solid boy with huge paws and not an ounce of chub
on him but he's so easily intimidated by the black and white female in...

I have a beutiful brown spotted Bengal who is gorgeous and I love him to
bits, but he has one habit that is driving me crazy. I have a window that I
have put venetian blinds on so I can see my computer screen better on sunny
days. Even though the cat always had a window he preferred to look out...
