Hematoma by
Perry Justus
Hi,
One of my cats has a hematoma (very swollen ear). I really want to
take him to the vet to have it profesionally cared for, but we're on
such a tight budget that there's no way we could afford the procedure.
What would you recommend doing?
I just found out today that the wrinkly ear thing is...

MORE ADVICE NEEDED ON SCREEN CLIMBING by
Stevie via CatKB.com
Our cat has cat trees to climb but insists on climbing the screens on all 3
sliding glass doors and the front door screen. We have tried religiously
squirting him but he is not deterred. We have even tried ignoring him
because we thought he might think it was a game, but nothing seems to...

Article on Asthma in Cats by
[email protected]
Simon was astmatic and had extreme
trouble breathing, the vet had to feed
oxygen through a throat cut, his owner
was a heavy smoker and you could smell
the smoke on the cat.
That's just heartbreaking. How anyone could do this to a cat and think
it's ok is unfathomable. The truth is though,...

Pill Pockets by
5cats
I've been using the Salmon flavor Pill Pockets for about 10 days and love
them. Pookie just snarfs them down and doesn't notice the pill inside. I
just got a package of the Chicken flavor variety and it seems to be much
drier and crumbly. She's eaten these too, but they way the treat crumbles
I'm...

Compounding pharmacy by
Rhonda
Abernathy figured out that coming to me for chicken meant that he would
soon get a pill. His fear overcame his love of food. We had one grand
nightmare one night trying to catch him in this small room.
The vet suggested a liquid antibiotic from a compounding pharmacy. This
was the first time we've...

Let me try a different approach. . . Hello! by
Yankee Rose
I have been a lifelong lover of animals. I don't find it odd that I
fell into the job that I did (Zoonotic disease Research Analyst)
working for the state. I've become involved in a lot of animal
oriented projects at a much higher magnitude, but I remember, and
cherish every year that I spent in...

Louis the Bengal's unique howling by
Brian Link
Sheesh. I've been chasing Louis around the house in an attempt to
record his unique vocalizations. He's like an infant, though, who
refuses to say "momma" when you have your folks on the phone.
Before I get an aneurism over the topic, does anyone have a link to
MP3s with a Bengal shrieking? I've...

Kitten behavior question by

I have two young foster kittens who came in separately. The one was 3 wks
old when he was left at our vets office. He was flea infested and quite
underweight. He's a very active kitten now but is still small for his age.
The other kitten was found outside by herself. She was in pretty good...

Peroxide and Cats? by
CatNipped
Jessie got a small scratch on her paw pad. I tried to dab it with peroxide
on a cotton ball, but she was having no part of it. DH suggested putting
some peroxide in a small bowl and then dipping her paw into that. I didn't
want to get her fur soaked in peroxide - I know licking off the little...

Poop outside litter box by
Shardonay
My cat does a weird thing. He poops right next to his perfectly clean
litter box (I scoop it out every day -- when there's something to
scoop!). He's an only cat. Is he trying to tell me something? Is
this a health problem?

Nutrical and constipation by

Just wondering if Nutrical, since it is high in soybean and other oils,
would be helpful to a cat that is tending towards mild constipation.
My old kitty (19, the subject of another post) is not pooping as easily
as before. He does go, but his stools are harder than normal despite
high intake of...

Do all cats experience the "lower back" response? by
Mike
Every cat I have ever known seems to react negatively to being scratched on
their lower back, just before the tail. Some cats seem paralyzed by the
action, while others openly complain and jump away.
What is it with this area of the lower back that makes cats react this way?
