anal gland issues.... can anyone shed some light? by
Sharkman BMW
I have 2 cats, a boy and a girl, about 7 years old.
The girl is fine, but the boy is stinky as soon as you get close to his
private part area!
I don't make a habit of sniffing him there, but when he rubbed up on me
recently, I couldn't help but notice, and was shocked at the smell.
Is this...

anal glands by
the 2nd coming of christ
what do you know about swollen anal glands. apparently a vet sticks his finger up a cat's ass to
squeeze them and that relieves discomfort for a while. can they be surgically removed to not have
to do that? does the cat need them? any other information would be greatly appreciated.

Anal glands - yuck!! by
KellyH
About every 6 months - year, NewCat decides to express her anal glands.
They seem to spontaneously leak. This past week, it's happned twice, of
course while she's on me.
How do I know when they are impacted/infected, and a trip to the vet is
needed? Since they leaked, are they expressed? I...

anal growths? by
jmc
This is kinda gross, but I can't figure out what's going on.
For a good bit of her life, my kitty has occasionally had little
"growths" on the hairless bit of her anus. Their makeup is a bit
difficult to describe, but reminds me of what an overgrown chestnut's
made of, on a horse. They've...

Anal sac and polyp problem by
Juls
Hi everybody. Dmitri and Jack are still TOTALLY in love and send their
warmest wishes and headbutts to everyone! I apologize for not being
around more often, just have been way too busy with stuff.
Jack is the happiest boy in the world....just so incredibly happy and
content. Dmitri too. (And Jack...

Anal sac question by
Cheryl
Shamrock goes back to TED Saturday for his healing Depo shot as his
allergies are really bad right now. Still no signs of fleas and after
3 years I think we can rule that out (flea treatment, combing, etc,
many other tests vet did). He eats a mainly canned food diet and
rarely touches dry except...

And all hell finally broke loose..... by

Michael let Cassie cat outside yesterday evening. I was in Indianapolis and
not much help in this situation. Cassie normally goes about her business and
comes back in later without incident. This time however she got into a major
fight with the father of Sammy's babies who lives across the...

And here I thought we were through with this... by
jmc
First, Meep hopped into the tub this morning, hopped straight out
shaking wet feet and I laughed... I didn't realize she was trying to
tell me something. When she tried to pee in my "shred box" I got a
clue, checked the litterbox - couple of good pees, but on top, two or
three quarter-sized...

And I thought my cat was fat... by

It may seem that I am making light of this, but I really don't think it's
very funny. My cat *is* slightly overweight but not so much that it affects
her health, and I do watch her intake very carefully (she's still on a
diet--it's been a very slow...

And now we are 3 by

I have been caring for my father's cat, Jade, a chocolate tortie, since
February. I really came to like her in the last few months. She seemed to
take to me too. She has had a rough go of it what with stomatitus but the
depo kept it under control. She was diagnosed with squamous cell...

Been away from the group for a long time. Very sad to see the crap that now
predominates. I guess some a*^%$#s just can't stand the idea that people
love their pets.
OK, so now I have 5 cats. I have a second black cat named Jack, actually
Giacomo but Jack for short, and my deceased father's...

Hello everyone! I'm new to the group but have been lurking for a couple years
& occasionally posting since last summer, so I decided it's past time to
formally introduce my cats & myself. I'm Mari, probably a little older than
many here, live in Canada & have had cats since 1970. My present cats...
