Why do we brush them? by
Lesley
Why do we brush our cats?
Well there's the fact they like it. Sarrasine loves it but why do we do
it?
Just to keep the cat happy? Well as slaves we know the importance of
that
To check the coat for fleas etc etc. Okay yes that's useful

Where's my tree gone! by
wafflycat
Poor Francis...
He doesn't know what is going on and he's *most* put-out.
One of the willow trees on the bank of the stream is very dead. Being rotten
from the base.
My lovely neighbour Bill has felled it and is cutting it up into logs.
This tree was one frequently occupied by the felines and...

What are those? by
Sandy
The other day my sister was borrowing my car, and she and my nephew rode
over on mopeds to get it. They left the mopeds in my patio, and for about
half an hour Sundance sat right at the back door keeping an eye on them! I
don't know what he was thinking -- maybe that they were going to move? ...

OT - Is it my turn for the "I whined on RPCA" T-Shirt? (looong) by
Magic Mood Jeep©
This has been going on for a little more than a month (it's what I 'pinged'
Mathew about), and it seems to be an ongoing saga:
One day, while chatting with my brother online (we use Windoze/MSN
Messenger), he mentioned that he got a phone call from a finance company,
looking for a Thomas O- in...

I made her bed and she must lie in it by
Baha via CatKB.com
Longer ago than I care to think, I went on a laundry fit. I did several loads,
brought them up with full intention of sorting and hanging, and our dining
room table hasn't seen food since. Roxie has spoken, staked her claim, and
made it into Her Ladyship's Bed.
Roxie will sulk if any of the other...

Belly Button Piercing - Sammy Style by
CatNipped
I *REALLY* need to trim her claws before allowing her on my lap for a little
toe-sucking session. Either that or wear a thicker top! I have hundreds of
little pin prick marks on my tummy!

Pics: my niece's photography this time by
Marina
My niece visited again with her camera, so I could play with the cats
while she took pictures. Here are some (a lot actually) action shots as
a change to all the sleeping pictures:

Amber's kittens by
Cheryl
They're now just about 8 weeks old. I'm still ranting and raving
over getting Amber spayed. Our mom said she'll pay for Amber to get
spayed, but whenever I say I'll set up an appt close by, and our
mom will even go get her and take her and pick her up, just to make
it easy on my sis, my sis says,...

[Biking] Sigh!!! by
CatNipped
It's finally gotten too hot and too humid here in Houston to go biking at
*any* time of day (at least biking for exercise). I've had to resort to
using my treadmill for my exercise, but I *REALLY* miss going out on my
bike. I can't wait for fall (like 10 months from now!!!). ...

my cats are useless! by
[email protected]
For some reason, my computer room at home is infested with a number
(and wide variety) of bugs. There are a couple of medium-sized moths,
including a very fat-bodied one that looks like a small hummingbird,
a number of very small flying things, some sort of long, reddish
beetles (two of them), and...

Just to confirm... by
~*LiveLoveLaugh*~
I've read it, and I know it's suppose to be true, but...
The new place I'm moving to has an *excellent* cat box room in the basement.
There's an old louver sliding door on it. I was thinking about cutting the
bottom off, so the cats could go under it... but it would be DARK in there.
I just...

Happy Birthday, Nina by
Shiral
She is two years old today, my little summer solstice cesarean section
baby cat! This is the kitten the vet "Wasn't sure would make it"
because she was so tiny at birth. Some joke, as she's definitely the
dominant cat, around here! When I pick her up she feels rather like a
soft and cuddly brick....

"Bruver" - Question re lonely outdoor kitten/cat - re maMA, Loki and Rexie (for reference) - sorry , longish by
Shirley B.
Long story trying to be short, I've told the story of maMA, found last
summer, friendly as anything (dumped, I'm sure) pregnant, got her spayed.
She then surprised the heck out of me a week after being spayed, by bringing
a litter of 5 kitens out of hiding. I found homes for 4, kept Loki, the...

Another picture of Caliban sleeping - again! by
Marina
Heh, I don't know how many pictures I've taken of Caliban sleeping, but
here's another one. I guess I can't believe the cuteness. ;o) The
difference here is that he's not sleeping on my bed, he's on my chair,
and I had just finished brushing his tummy fur (he didn't move a muscle
while I was doing...

Abelard is sick :( by
Pat
He's barfing all of a sudden. Three or four times since supper last night.
He eats, then tosses it back up. If he doesn't quit real soon he's off to
see TED. Purrs that this will be unnecessary would be appreciated.

Ruminations on Max by
H. Adam Stevens
I just emailed this to a fellow netizen of this newsgroup, but I thought a
subset of that email was good for a post.
*************
I've been reading up on Maine Coon cats and American Bobtails.
Both are strikingly similar to Max.
He was pure feral, born out of a 12,000 acre forest, lived with me...
