Stray Dog by
jmcquown
I stopped at the little store down the street and there was a very young dog
out there with teats hanging almost to the ground. Obviously a stray who
had recently given birth and had pups someplace. Another guy and I each
bought a can of Alpo and put it out by the store under the awning where...

A handsome stranger by
wafflycat
In my garden last night. Bold as brass, lying stretched out on the grass,
soaking up the evening sun.
A young cat - estimate to be about a year old, and unneutered (BAH! to last
bit). Absoutley gorgeous - too pretty to be a boy, really - a mackerel
tabby, with subdued colouring, white toes, white...

A fight broke out this morning by
Pat
Woke me up at 5 am.... I had wanted to sleep until 7 but by the time I got
the Feliway diffuser plugged back in, I was clear awake.
This was the weekend that I was finally going to make it to the swap meet in
Cabool, but at the last minute had to call it off due to rain. And, oh boy
did we ever...

Whales in danger by
Pat
The unthinkable has happened:
Japan is positioned to remove critical protections for whales at this
Friday's International Whaling Commission (IWC) meeting, spelling disaster
for the world's whales.
Urge President Bush to hold Japan accountable for their actions against
whales. Help us make...

Three generations by
Mark Edwards
There are some new visitors at the door.
First is the little grey girl kitty, who rushes into the apartment
when I put food out in the morning. She runs around, trying to see
where the food is, then hurriedly follows me out to where I put food
out. Picking her up, I find her to be a sweet but...

Oscar by
Adrian
I posted a picture of Asterix a few days ago. After a lot of looking I found
a picture of his brother, Oscar. Oscar was much the boldest and friendliest
of the two, and used to visit more often.

[OT] Venting by
CatNipped
The depravity of the following is *SO* disgusting. In the news here
today....
Two men accosted a family (mother, father, four children) at a car wash and
brandished guns, demanding all their cash. The family didn't have any cash
so the men proceeded to throw the children out of the car and...

Chin resting on forehead by
badwilson
I was lying on my back in bed last night and I heard this motor
approaching. It got louder and louder and finally it settled on my
pillow next to my head.
Whew, at least the motor was warm and furry!
Vino was meatloafing right next to my head, his folded under arms were
pressing against my ear and...

So much for the Sucky Monster by
Jane
I was vacuuming last night, which is a rare occurrence. Yeah, as much
as I love my Dyson, it's lucky to get used twice a month. I am *not*
a housekeeper by any stretch of the imagination. But I digress....
Rita climbed on the couch and watched the Sucky Monster with great
interest. Whenever it...

[OT] injured mink by
John F. Eldredge
On Wednesday evening, after work, I was talking to the security guard
at my workplace parking lot. He called my attention to an animal
passing through the lot, only 30 feet or so from us. It was a mink,
about 18 inches long, not counting the tail. It appeared to have been
injured, possibly by...

Ring tone that's silent to adults? by
Cheryl
I don't get it. Are kids like dogs? LOL It's all over the news
that there is a frequency that kids can hear and most adults
cannot. It was said that when it was discovered, the tone was used
in a store somewhere in Europe that had a teen population that the
proprietors didn't want loitering, so...

Idea for Tak- thoughts? by
Sue
Dear rpca folks,
please look gently upon me, I who may seem to be an interloper and I guess
am properly called a "lurker" (although I have posted just a bit here and
there).
I began subscribing to this newsgroup when the good folks here were on Tak's
case about getting a cat. And avidly followed...

May I ask why "h*m" is spoilered? (Enfilade did it, too.) Are we not

Cruising cats: Storm update by
Annie Wxill
Thanks for the purrs and other good vibrations.
I just got of the phone with Jim on Genesis in Savannah, Georgia.
The storm passed with about 5 inches of rain (over 2 days) and a lot of wind
(about 30 mph) and a 9.5-foot tide. This is only about a foot higher than
usual, so not bad.
Genesis is...

Introducing Rosie by

Hi my name is Rosie and I'm staying with meowmie Shirley until I find
a forever home. You're probably thinking why someone as sweet a I am
doesn't have a home already, well I'm only 8 weeks old and I got lost.
I can't remember how long I was lost for but a nice hoomin found me
and took me...
