(OT) What did I do to my wrist?? by
Pat
Looking for some guidance here...
Years ago I used to do a lot of yoga and martial arts, but now I am out of
shape and carrying excess weight, so I decided to give Pilates a go. A while
back I heard it mentioned in a weight-loss group, then about a month ago I
was in Wal-Mart and saw a Pilates DVD...

(OT) What stops horses drinking? by
Pat
The group of six horses in the field next to me have hardly drunk any water
since Friday. Normally even in cooler weather a group that size will consume
100 gallons a day, and it's been well over 100º here for the last 5-6 days.
Friday evening I topped off the tough; Saturday morning it was only...

(OT) Who knows chainsaws? by
Pat[_2_]
Dave wants to get one for cutting fallen trees in the national forest for
our woodstove. So I was looking around online and took note of this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Poulan-PP3516AVX-16-Inch-2-Cycle-Anti-Vibration/dp/B000E1587U/
I thought it looks adequate for what we want, and is probably...

(OT) Why Did the Otter Cross the Road? by
jmcquown[_2_]
I was on my way to work Thursday morning, just off the island where I live.
It's pretty much surrounded by marsh which fills with water when the tide
comes in. It's fed by the inland creeks off the southern atlantic
Intracoastal Waterway.
So I'm driving along and I see this black critter up on...

(OT) Wish me Luck! by
jmcquown[_2_]
I met with the President of the Board of Directors and the Membership
Director yesterday to address this ridiculous requirement of having to
be a member of "the club". (My friend and neighbor came along to
provide moral support.) This meeting is my last hope of not having to
sell the...

Annie (the D-pet) has a fenced in yard! All cedar (more resistant to
rot & insects, and nicer than 'pressure treated' wood), semi-privacy
fence enclosing the yard behind our house. Last weekend we installed
the last of the posts, and put the rails up (this after moving that 16~

(OT) Yard Care Advice, Please? by
Pat
OK here's the situation:
I have a very big yard here, and in some spots the grass grew very quickly.
I've been cutting it down bit by bit with a scythe. It's about 80% done now,
and the last of it is right in the center of the backyard.
But I'm not fast enough to please a couple of the neighbors,...

(OT)- Race day is almost here. by
TJ and The Z's
Okay, this Sunday on the good ole Fourth of July I will do my first sprint
triathlon. I am ready! I have really been working hard toward this goal but it
definitely has cut into my online time. (that I don't like, I miss being able
to read and post). I am very confident in my swimming. I have...

(OT): Pet food price comparison for specific websites? by
Debbie Wilson
Does anyone know of a site, app, or browser plug-in that will allow me
to compare prices of particular named products between a number of named
websites of my choosing?
e.g. if I want to search for several types of particular prescription
pet food on 5 internet pet supplies sites, is there a quick...

(OT-mostly) Posting from The Tower by
[email protected]
Well, my laptop finally gave me enough fits to give up and move
upstairs to the Computer Room/Kitty Rescue Room and start using this
computer to read and post from. I had to download Free Agent and get
it all configured (which took awhile -- been some time since I'd done
that, and I tend to forget...

(Rant) - conversation with a co-worker by
Mishi
I was working today with a woman who has 3 cats. She was complaining that
they were peeing all over the place, and she couldn't get them to stop.
Being the helpful person I am, I asked her what she was cleaning with. She
said "ammonia". I almost hit the roof. I asked her if she knew what the
major...

(sort of OT) Halloween, anyone? by
jmcquown[_2_]
I (thankfully) don't live where anyone rings my doorbell looking for candy.
But I do have a cat-flag hanging outside :) And I've seen some mailboxes
decorated with wooden pumpkin faces so I know I'm not the only one :)
I plan to have a pumpkin and some decorative gourds, maybe some corn stalks....

(Sort of urgent) "Stink free"? by
[email protected]
Smudge peed in my car! It's a long story, but I do not know where the
actual urine stain is. So I had to find a place that sold blacklights,
so I could find the stain, and apply the Nature's Miracle.
I found a blacklight at a pet store, but it was sold only in a package
with some odor-remover...

(Way OT) Arachnophobia by
jmcquown[_2_]
No, I'm not really afraid of spiders. Many spiders are beneficial. And
some, like the large black & yellow argiope spiders I had flanking my patio
a couple of years ago are strikingly beautiful.
But I don't want spiders in my house. That's not usually a problem. I
think I might find one...
