Warning for pet owners that have ozone type air cleaners by [email protected]
They are hazarous to your and your pet's health: http://www.netsyscentral.com/keith/livingair1.htm From the research I've done, the best air cleaner for the home is your standard HEPA cleaner with a replaceable filter. Megan

Just switched from Papurr to Swheat Scoop Litter by [email protected]
I've got a bag of WBCL to get rid of too. I switched because of the dust tracking all over the house too. I have 12 litterboxes with WBCL and have had none of these problems. I wash and change the litter in the boxes completely every 2-3 weeks. It has worked much better for me than the clay...

diabetic cat? by [email protected]
anyone know how to test a cat's blood sugar? http://www.felinediabetes.com/glucose.htm I prefer to test using the ear as using a paw pad has a risk of infection because the site will be exposed to bacteria from the litterbox when the cat uses it. Megan

was: asking for help by zorro
I screwed up trying to reply, so I'm resetting: "Monique Y. Mudama" wrote in message ... As near as I can tell, just about anything is normal cat behavior ... for at least one cat. Maybe your kitty is meowing for attention, but...

Asking for help by zorro
I adopted 2 litter mate brothers from a friend to replace my dog, who died about a year before I got the kittens, I wasn't ready for another dog, since I live alone, but I figured the cats could keep each other company while I'm at work. Anyway - Gizmo (the smaller one) will sit next to me meowing,...

New outdoor kitty - seeking advice by Zorin the Lynx
Good morning folks, it's been a while since I've posted here. Few remember me I bet, but I got some much-needed advice back in 2002 when Lynxie was a kitten and I was lost as a new cat owner. Thank you again, those who are still here. I've always fed a few stray cats. They have always been feral,...

Can cats get pimples? by Zorin the Lynx
This recently showed up on my cat's chin, and I'm just wondering if I should be concerned and schedule a vet trip, or if it's the equivalent of a pimple and will go away soon: http://zorin.org/share/temp/cat-pimple.jpg Any ideas? Sorry for the poor quality of the shot; it's hard to hold a cat...

Strange new smells causing litterbox problems? by Zorin the Lynx
Yesterday was my first day volunteering at an animal sanctuary. They have tigers, cougars, a black bear, etc... Overall a great experience, but it left me coming home with LOTS of new smells on me that my cat has never smelled before. He was apparently overwhelmed by the scents and avoided me when...

Eating flies - Can they hurt my kitty? by Zorin the Lynx
Lynxie has taken on the habit of chasing these little flies that manage to get inside. They're smaller than houseflies, and are slow and easy to catch, so he has a ball chasing them. I recently found out that he's actually eating them. I'm just wondering if I should discourage this practice. It's...

Can anyone identify this insect? by Zorin the Lynx
Hello folks, Can anyone identify this insect? The reason I ask here, is I saw it crawling across my desk, where my cat was just laying minutes before, and I was just wondering if it was something that could have been feasting on my poor fuzzy. It's about the size of a grain of rice and walks...

Odd behavioral change in my cat last night by zorin
Hey all, I was just wondering if I should be concerned. Lynxie is normally NOT a lap cat, and will only sit in my lap for maybe a couple minutes at most before running off and doing his own thing. But last night, I started brushing him as usual; he normally tries to leave halfway through the...

Ring Worm HELP! by Zoey
This is the 3rd time in the past 3 years I have gotten ring worm and I cant imagine where from. I have 2 indoor cats but have taken them to the vet and the vet said it would be noticeable if they had it because they would have patches of hair missing which from what I can tell they do not. Is it...

cat washing by Zoeliz
Is there a fixed pattern to a cat's wash?Does a cat start in one place and work it's way around it's body the same way each wash? Do all cats wash their body areas in the same order? How many times a week is each body area washed? Is washing learned behaviour or is it instinctive in cats? Just...

Diet advice needed--Webster is fat! by Zoeliz
My 1 1/2 year old cat Webster was neutred in May at the age of 1 year and then I adopted him. He weighed just under 10lbs. Now he weighs just under 15lbs! He's a big guy but that really is too fat!! Also, unlike any other cat I've ever had, he's got a food addiction--eats anything that the other...

cat eye colours by Zoeliz
My cat Webster has brown eyes but the other 6 cats that I've had had green eyes. I know that Siamese cats and some other cat breeds have blue eyes but I've never seen a cat with brown eyes before. Have you? Zoe

Do you show your longhaired cat? by Zoeliz
My cat Webster is a semi longhaired cat who sheds like mad and I find it very hard to keep him well groomed. The more I brush him, the more loose fur gathers on his coat and eventually falls on the hardwood floors or elsewhere. If anyone shows long haired cats, do you have any grooming...
