tap water & bottle spring water by NMR
First when was the last vet check you may need to rule out a urinary tract infection. IMO it is more healthier for him to drink tap water. If it was unhealthy a person would not be able to drink it. There are so many reports of people only drink bottle water and the tooth decay is higher in...

hair/fur shedding by whisky-dave
My cat is white and tends to shed far more hair than my previous black/white and mixed fur cats have. Do white haired cats shed more or is it just that it notices more. i.e do I have to give up wearing coloured clothes ;-) She's not too keen on being brushed/combed either A few pictures...

Cat food brands--Science Diet = cat equivalent of rich folk buyingtheir people food at Whole Foods and other boutique grocery stores? by mike
I'm skeptical that expensive cat food brands like Science Diet are worth the money, health and nutrition-wise, over brands like Purina One. Is this a "boutique" type issue, where those who shop at expensive, organic grocery stores for human food (e.g. Whole Foods, EarthFare, etc) also tend toward...

Kitty likes to jump on the counter by Pamela
I've owned my cat for three months now. Before, he was simply too young to reach the kitchen countertop, so he'd clamber up on shelves every once in a while. Now he's a bit older and more agile, so my husband and I catch him up there quite frequently. I don't approve of this behavior as it is...

Feline kidney disease by Loves_to_read
My 16 year old cat was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. The vet had me switch his food to Hills K/D, and told me to give him a baby aspirin every other day. He doesn't seem to get filled up on the cat food, and the vet suggested that I not feed him canned food. Fortunately, all his blood...

I thought you might like this story by Bill
I thought you might like this story from a TV/Book writer who posts on another board. I recently lost a cat that I'm still very sad about. It is good to hear these kinds of stories. Bill _________________________________________________\

Fat Cat toys! by Mary
I love these things. They have catnip and some have crackly stuff in them. Our latest: Hillary Clinton and Arnold Schwarzenegger. :) (Petsmart was out of George Bush, and Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich have been retired. Bummer!) Being a true Democrat, I got both so I could see which way my cats...

Good morning, everbody! I have been on a quest to find a new Bengal kitten to "entertain" my resident 4 year old Bengal girl and I have a male silver spotted Bengal coming my way on March 13th. The breeder is very sweet and she seems to take VERY good care of her cats (she lives 12 hours away...

Took in a sick cat... by Brigitte
Hi Group, Hope you can give me some advice. About a month ago I took in a cat that had once belonged to someone I know. She had pretty-much stopped caring for the cat. I felt bad and took the cat into my care. When I got the cat she was very thin and had an abscess on her behind. It is near...

Sub-Q fluids made cat sluggish by MJ
This whole situation is in the past, but I'm still looking for answers. I'm interested in knowing why giving a 12 y/o, indoor only cat 100 mL of Sub-Q fluids twice a week would cause him to become sluggish and stop playing (his playing involved running around the house). About a month prior, all...

Friends for 2 years now enemies! by Ross Irvine
Hello, I have a problem and needs some advice. I have two Abyssinian's, one about 6 months older than the other. The older is a male, the younger a female (both de-sexed). We've had both from kittens. These two have been best of friends of 2 years, playing together, sleeping together, meow for...

Kitten growth rate? by CatNipped[_2_]
How much do kittens grow from 6 months to a year? Except for Maine Coons (who can keep growing for up to 5 years - although with Sammy it's mostly sideways growth ;) - how long do cats keep growing. I'm asking because Ozzy is now at 10 pounds. His bro-fur Archer is only 7.5. -- Hugs,

Sally Forth Comic Strip by blkcatgal
Has anyone been reading the comic strip "Sally Forth" lately? The story line is that their cat "Kitty" is very sick, has an impacted colon, and requires an operation that will cost $3400. Sally and her husband are trying to explain this their daughter and that they probably are not going to have...

Sudden temporary paralysis by Richard Evans
I have a cat about ten years old, neutered male, diabetic controlled by insulin. A few minutes ago he started crying as if he were in pain and his hind legs went out from under him. He seemed to be paralyzed in the hind quarters. While we were trying to figure out what was wrong, he defected then...
