{OT}Help - Recipes wanted by
Shirley
I have some blueberries and I want to make 'something' to take to my
FIL & MIL's 60th wedding anniversary 'do'. It needs to be something I
can make in advance (i.e. can be frozen until required date), and it
needs to be something that will 'travel' well as the 'do' is a couple
of hours drive from...

{OT} Good News & Bad News by
Shirley
My MIL had hip replacement surgery today and came through it ok (she's
79 and has COPD) even though her hip was in far worse condition than
thought originally - she had to have a general anaesthetic instead of
an epidural. A few purrs for a quick recovery would be appreciated.
The bad news is my...

{OT} Antidepressant Issues by
Enfilade
This is my first vent here...
I want to get off the Effexor I've been taking for depression for
almost a year now. I've been more stable than DP's seen me to be in
the past 8 years, in the last 6 months. Unfortunately, in those last
6 months I also sleep about 12 hours a day, and occasionally I...

{OT] Medical stuff by
[email protected]
Well, I've been through how many tests and I don't know what all
lately, but here's the updates.
Guy Warning: Some icky female stuff is mentioned.
The MRI showed that I have apparently (like Randy) had at least 20
TIAs (mini-strokes). This is a bit scary, and makes it more likely I
will have...

{BW} Not UR kitties, MY kitties by
Enfilade
http://www.angelfire.com/de/albatros/urkitties.html
I took those "IM IN UR" cat pics and made my own using photos of the
Pletsch-Blacquiere Clowder :)
However, the last image in this URL is like "The Ring" video--once you
see it, you have seven days to live. Sorry about that.

_My_ cats are green by
outsider
Frank and Lyle are big fans of bio-thermal heat.
Anytime I lay down, even for a few minutes to watch tv/dvd, they are there
huddled against me in a few moments. Their radar ears and digital signal
processor can detect a person getting onto a bed at 100 meters.

[Yowlet] The Artist by
Yowie
The Yowlet goes to 'school' 2 days a week. By 'school' I actually mean
daycare, but he's already told me that only babies go to daycare, and big
boys go to school. So, school it is, even if it happens to be hte exact same
place as daycare :-)
Going to dayc, I mean, school 2 days a week means...

[Way OT] - JUST ONCE - VT Shootings by
Mark Edwards
Concerning the shooting at VT today (pardon my language):
Just once. JUST ONCE, I would like to hear that the gunman was taken out
by a couple of dozen fatal wounds from ****ed off, heavily armed fellow
students who were in harm's way.
I would PAY to see that the gunman was killed by ninjas...

[Very OT] Measuring IR radiation density by
Yowie
Ok, this is so *totally* off topic, but you never know if you don't ask, so
I'm asking.
Does anyone know where I can get an instrument that will measure the
infrared radiation density in the 0.8 to 1.5 micrometre wavelength band that
can measure up to 1.5 megawatts per square metre?
I don't...

[UPDATE] Xmas Scare by
[email protected]
First, thank and bless you dear folks who called into the vet's to
help me out before I even got there! You are wonderful, and your help
is deeply appreciated.
Now I'm a little embarrassed. sheepish grin Here's why.
I decided to take in Wolfie, who was also having a chin problem that

[UPDATE] on purrs for friend's cat by
[email protected]
You guys are the best! Both Adoph and Magic seem to be recovering.
KK went to another vet and got a second opinion, and the meds that vet
prescribed were apparently what they needed. He believes they
have/had an intestinal infection, with the walls of the intestines
swelling, infected, and...

[TW] The Promise by
Yowie
Having Suki & Pickles here has reminded me of things about Shmogg that I
didn't realise I had missed in his last months.
The Herd of Thundering Wildebeests Stampeding Across the Plains of the
Serengeti at 4am. The preparation of food with a begging cat (or two)
winding around my feet. Being woken...

[TW] Severely injured dog finds its way home by
John F. Eldredge
Pancho, a 7-month-old Chihuahua in Perry County, Tennessee, was
missing for 7 days, but finally found his way home. After he
disappeared, his owners searched for him without success. He found
his way home after a week, dragging himself along with his front legs.
His back, hips, and back legs were...
