Good List for new cat owners by Karen
I think most of us know these but good list for new cat people. I thought it was most interesting the bit about "ask children". Very good point. http://www.ehow.com/how_16335_determine-cat-needs.html How to Determine if Your Cat Needs Medical Care Careful observation of daily activities and...

Reaction to vaccine? by SK
Hi, In January '03 I got my cat Bandit his booster. The next day he wasn't well, very weak, etc. He ended up spending four days in the vets and his red blood cell count was really low. The vet insisted at the time it was a coincidence and not related to the booster. I was nervous about getting...

Canned food labels 102 by Newbie
Starting with no experience or knowledge, initially I just bought the cheapest. My cat loved it. Then I read around a little and learned to avoid "by-products" as well as grains at the top of the ingredient list. (The cat was underwhelmed by the new "premium" food, but a little experimenting...

No more Wellness by Barb
At last my local pet shop has just about run out of Wellness. The only cans left are the fish ones either the cats won't eat or I won't buy. The shop owner says she orders weekly and I know everyone is in the same pickle. So, if any of you find out that there is a turn-around in this, please...

Adding new cat by Jacqueline
Hello, We currently have a 1.5 - 2 year old female that we adopted 6 months or so ago. She is a fabulous cat. She is especially attached to me, it seems. We have decided to do a trial adoption of another 8 month old female. I think our current cat will enjoy having a playmate as a neighborhood cat...

Dry or canned: best food at various price points? by Kiran
Rather than rekindle the usual canned versus dry debate, I would like to ask which is better, not in an absolute sense, but at a particular price point? My cat eats approximately one 6z can per day: For the cheapest brands, this works out to 25 cents/day. Stocking up on sales, one can get...

Tragedy turns to hope - Shelter epidemic spurs wide adoptions by Brian Link
Okay, I'm on one of my posting binges here, so here's the last of the night. Our local Humane Society had an outbreak of feline distemper, and it killed a lot of their kitties. The newspapers reported it, and folks leapt into action and adopted tons of the shelter's kitties to preserve them from...

Finding a roommate for a 14-yr-old single female cat? by Brian Link
My brother lost both his beloved kitties over the last few years. He's living with my sister, who owns a 14-year-old, rather unsociable female (the cat likes my sister, but hates my brother and visitors). This cat is one of those Maine-Coon-lookalikes, who always had issues with the other deceased...

UK cat repellant spray- any suggestions? by Lesley
Hi all With two completely mad furballs we have developed a fairly tolerant response to occasional incidents when furniture gets clawed but we have a problem.... Sarrasine has developed almost a fetish for clawing at the speaker cover on the left hand speaker. She knows she's not to do it and...

Sneezing, need quick response please by animzmirot
Ringo started sneezing non-stop about an hour ago. Nothing coming out, eyes aren't runny, no discharge anywhere, but he's just sneezing and sneezing. The ONLY thing that has been different about him is that today he went into the kitchen garbage and pulled out the plastic top to a cottage...

Nipsy is driving me nuts by dgk
I always seem to have one happy cat (that would be the position currently held by Espy - DSH) and one unhappy cat (the role filled by Nipsy). Espy is always smiling and inquisitive and talking, but Nipsy (16 lb long hair, possibly part Maine Coon) always seems unhappy and scared of everything....
