vaccinations question by Elizabeth Blake
The two cats at work, Stinky & Harriet, have their annual checkup scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday). I just looked at the postcard I got from the vet's office and they checked off what the cats should be going in for: annual exam and under vaccinations, they checked off the box...

kitten becoming aggressive by icarus
For goodness sake, ... hit her. not hard but enough so she knows its wrong. cats are amoral, avaricious and aggessive. you have to train them. gently, firmly but don't hurt them tho. they aint toys, they are animals. so dont hurt them but they shouldn't hurt you either.

Feline Pine Scoop Litter - Does not Scoop! by sfmary
My cat has developed a cough and the vet and thought it may be the silica dust from the litter. The x-ray did not show anything serious. He was given Prednisolone which helped for a while then the cough and wheeze started up again. I tried the wheat litter Swheat only they licked the dust off of...

Indoor cat figured out doggie door by Tom Meter
Hi. My wife has lost two cats in the last few years that just ran away and never returned. So she is really concerned that our current indoor cat Brittney will flee now that she has gone out the doggie door a couple of times. We are currently locking the doggie door while she has full reign of the...

Story: 'Calvin' by Charles Dudley Warner [MP3] by rh
I came across 'Calvin,' a short story by the great 19th Century writer and poet, Charles Warner, in a book of Cat Stories. It is the best biograph of a cat I have ever read, and never fails to choke me up. As related in the story, Warner received Calvin, a Maltese, from Harriett Beecher Stowe,...

Feline Chylothorax by [email protected]
Hi, I would like to know if anyone has had a cat diagnosed with idiopathic (unknown cause) chylothorax. My 16 year old cat has developed this condition and it has been very frustrating. My primary vet referred me to a cardiologist after the lab report confirmed that the chest fluid collected was...

Is it a behavioral problem or a genetic problem. by Kuisse0002
My cat - an abandoned stray - is truely lovable towards me in the middle of the night and first thing in the morning. We always thought she hated my husband and all men (as displayed by her action of running out of the door and away to hide everytime) but today I was with her in the morning and...

I Lost Tony by CYBERFLOYD
He was only 11 months old. A major organ was involved and little could be done but everything was tried. There was something about him that always seemed not long for this world in spite of the fact that he appeared quite happy and healthy until a few weeks ago. I lost another 13 year old cat at...

Jack has a new sister! by Juls
Well, I went to PetSmart to get Jack some food and they were having an adoption thing from a humane shelter (kill shelter). I had never once allowed myself to stop and look before, but this time, I was just drawn to the front cage. I really wanted a boy cat and asked if they had any boys, but they...

Scale to Weigh my Cats - recommendation? by Teffy
I want to weigh my cats periodically. I have been shopping online for baby scales and pet scales. I have found mechanical scales for $50 to $60, and digital / electronic scales for $120 to $150 and up. My main concern is getting an accurate weight while my cat is moving around on the scale. ...

Proposed Solution by CharIie Wilkes
There is a point in "The Godfather" by M. Puzo where one of the characters says, "I tried to live within the system, but the system failed me. Now, for justice, I must go to Don Corleone." That is what has happened here. I believe this can be avoided, in the future, if the participants in these...

laser pointer tried with dog... by Shaggin
I decided since my cats loved this laser pointer so much I would try it with my dog just to see what he thought. He didn't even seem to notice it he just kept running around with his tennis ball in his mouth ignoring the red dot. I tried it for awhile but he just didn't seem to care. :)
