Feline Diabetes by
rose ricciuto
Our 2nd oldest cat (7 yr) was just diagnosed with diabetes. Our problem
is she is a feral rescue and only allows 1 hand on at a time. We have to
hospitalize her for antibiotics for bladder infections. There is no
way we can administer insulin 2ce a day without caging her permanently
and making...

Cecil, rescued in Brooklyn! by
lisacat
Cecil is a 5 month-old kitten who was found in Greenpoint. Someone had
bound him with a cord or wire so tight that it cut into his neck,
opening wounds that became badly infected. He also has other medical
issues and tomorrow goes in for a consultation with an opthalmologist
to discuss repairing...

scratching around food bowl before eating by
[email protected]
I wondered if someone could tell me what's going on he
My cat is on an antibiotic. At first I would mix it with a little
canned food - a real treat for him. He'd run right over and gobble it
up. He did that for a few days. Then he started turning his nose up
at it and I switched to tuna...

Queens NY Cat Sitter? by
dgk
I'll be going away in August and my former cat sitter (Crittercare)
appears to have gone out of business. There are plenty of similar
people in Manhattan but I can't find any that do Queens. Anyone know
someone?
Asking a friend to come by once or twice a day for a week is a bit
much and I'd rather...

OceanView
Hi folks,
My cat, a VERY strong, 15-pound male, has an ear infection and I have to
give him two separate liquid treatments for the next ten days. Oh joy. The
problem is how to hold him still enough to be able to give him the treatment.
I live alone, so it's just me against a very strong cat. My...

IrfanView... does it send the wrong message? by
Charlie Wilkes
It is my favorite free graphics viewer. But, for years now, the
default icon for IrfanView is an image of a run-over cat. You can
even change to a similar icon that shows the tire treads.
As much as I like the software, I am concerned that icon sends the
wrong message, especially to children. A...

Goodbye Q by
Niel Humphreys
Q, my first cat, passed away last week aged 15. I had him when he was small
enough to fit in the palm of my hand and he was my first pet.
As a youngster he got out one day and was run over resulting in a smashed
pelvis and 6 weeks of hand feeding in my spare room during which point he
bonded with...

Grrrrr by
Niel Humphreys
I've had a local stray hanging around for the last few months and it's
always got scars and scabs around it's head and face. Obviously was
someone's pet as he will let me pet him although never stay too close, my
other cats don't mind him either when he joins them for food.
This morning I got up...

Caloric needs of cats? by
Kiran
Sometime ago, I had a posted a question about how much to feed a cat.
The response I rememebr (from Phil and others) was 20 Kcal per lb of
body weight per day, for a neutered adult. So, for a 5 lb cat it would
be 100 Kcal per day.
However, it struck me that the calculator...

Petsafe ULTIMATE v Classic Cat Door (4.25" wide enough?) by
Ajanta
I am going to get a cat door installed in near future.
Appreciating all the feedback a few months ago,
I am trying to decide between these two models:
Petsafe Ultimate (Small): opening 4.25" x 7"
Petsafe Classic (Small): opening 5" x 7"
The Ultimate costs a bit more and I am sure it is...

Good canned food? by
Kiran
Would you all be kind enough to look at these numbers:
http://www.geocities.com/jmpeerson/canfood.html
and help me select which canned foods are "good"?
I am sure many will benefit from the list.

I have a six month old cat by the name of Benny. While he has just been
desexed and his behaviour has improved, he was showing some fairly
strange behaviour as a kitten. From about two months he would come up
and sit on my lap then pee on me. Also he has been known to do this
