I have informally referred to "my cat" in a few post, but she belongs to friends who are out of the country for several months and have asked us to care for her. If they had lived in another city or even part of town I would have officially brought her to my home. But they live two houses down...

Wooden mulch, bird baths, cats by Newbie[_2_]
To make a long story short, I am worrying about whether wood mulch (Cedar Nuggets from Home Depot to be precise) is safe for cats to run on or jump onto? Or small metal bird baths placed on that mulch? Nothing bad has happened to our knowledge. But a neighbor's cat returned with a serious limp in...

Preparations a friend is making for evacation (with her cat) by MaryL
I just posted this message to anecdotes, but I thought it was also appropriate for this group. I have a friend who lives near San Diego. I contacted her today to see if everything is okay, and she says they have had lots of smoke but no impact from the fires -- at least not yet. I thought...

It's been a while since I posted this link - I first stumbled across it in 2004. Those who've joined since then might want to take a look. Warning (especially for those who have had recent losses) - it *will* make you cry, but it will be good tears. http://www.bonfires.de/TheLovingOnes.htm --

Updated on the two cats by CindyBreninger
Well, we haven't been paying as much attention to Elvis, the bigger, boy cat (I told the kids to just let him be and see what happens) and he is coming around, wants attention, and even purred. He still does not like to be held, so we just pet him when he comes around. The girl cat, Daisy May,...

Worried About Archer by CatNipped[_2_]
I wrote a while back about Archer breaking his leg. I didn't know he was using his litter box when I hit the garage door opener and he panicked at the sound, went flying into the house and hit his leg on the door sill (we have an attached garage and keep the litter boxes there - the cats use a...

Twisty CAts by Sherry
Does anyone remember the "Twisty Cat" breeder, and the surrounding controversey of a few years back? Does anyone remember which state that was in? I"m asking because the shelter has a cat that looks exactly like them. Cute little thing, she looks a little like a kangaroo -- seems to be a...
