N.Z Storm by
Bev
Have a look at
http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/dominionpost/0,,0a6000,00.html
Trees are down, hundreds of people evacuated from their homes and most
of the roads closed. Stock are stranded, milk dumped and 100 years old
trees uprooted.
To make matters worse some nasty Aussie intruders have arrived...

Off Topic, but need help - I have mice by
Alan Erskine
In my kitchen! There's one under the cupboard at the moment, scratching as
if it's trying to break free. I've put down Ratsak (poison), for the past
week, but no good.
I sent my landlord a *very* stern letter yesterday, but they might not get
that until monday. Under Victorian Law (my state in...

Cat nip bubbles by
Susan M
Hi the
I bought some catnip bubbles today that promised hours of frantic fun. Otis
is completely bored by them, though loves catnip. Chester's still out
killing mice so he hasn't tried them yet.
Anyone have good success with them? Any tips?

Any Washington, DC area boarding recommendations? by
Margaret Fine
Looks like our little "temporary assignment" is turning into a permanent
move. Anyone live in the Washington, DC area that can recommend a good
boarding facility? I am particularly interested in feline boarding in
Maryland (Rockville, Bethesda, Silver Spring) but also need leads for
canine.
I...

Smart...or just weird? by
Peggy L
I have an adolescent Norwegian Forest Cat (Birgitta Deilig) who has
several odd--and mostly amusing--behaviors. One thing she does that
I've never seen before (and I've had a lot of cats) is that she eats
with her feet.
I used to give her moist food much of the time, but I had to stop. She
would...

OT German newsserver by
Marina
The German newsserver that I know many of you use has suddenly decided not
to work for me any longer. Has anyone else had a problem? When I write in my
password, the dialogue just reappears (with the x:es in the space for the
password). No matter how many times I try to write in my password, the...

Help rescue-workers save pets by

I just picked up this link on the Finnish cat ng.

The link leads to the Helsinki newspaper - Helsingin Sanomat - site,
which unfortunately is all in Finnish, but here's the gist of the
article (*very* rough translation):

Weeble's 1/2 Birthday Prezzie(s) by
Magic Mood JeepĀ©
I had ordered some of these items from Drs. Foster & Smith,
http://tinyurl.com/2a6rv, called a Play Paw. They came yesterday (along
with a bunch of other stuff I had ordered) and got one of them out last
evening and the little turd was afraid of them. Well, today I put one on

Diet question by
Bobcat
All our kitties are indoor cats, and all are, uh, full-figured. One of them,
about 3 years old, went to the vets for her shots yesterday and she's hit
16 pounds! Our vet says it's not a dangerous weight because she's a pretty
big cat, but it wouldn't hurt her to lose some poundage. The problem is...

Life imitates art by
Bobcat
There's a wonderful little animation on the Internet you may have seen, and
played. It's a black cat with white paws and chest that follows the mouse
pointer with its eyes, and bats at it with its paw. Now we have a new
kitten, Sophie, who loves to sit in front of the screen and do exactly the
same...

PETA strikes again... by

I don't know how you all feel about PETA's antics, but I wanted to share this

There''s a town here called "Slaughterville." PETA has stepped in and is
lobbying to get the name of the town changed, due to the negative implications

Half-term and Waffles is loving it by

Over here in England it's school half-term week. Hence Nathan is home from
school and doing lots of revision.
Waffles is thoroughly enjoying having her large hoomin kitten at home all day.
She is making sure he doesn't stray by taking every opportunity to be a lap
fungus - one that sits with eye...

Goofy Vino antics by
badwilson
Well, Vino definitely knew that Dennis was leaving yesterday. As soon as
the suitcase came out, he began acting absolutely adorable and affectionate.
Poor baby, he was probably thinking that he could make Dennis decide to stay
if he was cuter than normal!
After Dennis was all packed up and we were...
