When is it ok to fix a pregnant Queen? by Mike Romain
Ok.... We got left this nice little outdoor black and white by a tenant in our basement that disappeared. She was quite pregnant it would seem as she had kittens shortly after. This was in April of this year. She hadn't even finished weaning that batch and was obviously pregnant again.

Sorry, but Roy suffered the accident as a result of the bad karma built up of many years. by The Smiths
I want to couch my posting by saying from the beginning that I am sorry Mr. Roy had the accident the other day. I hate to see any animal suffer, even humans. I saw a film of him training a young lion to swim. They were in the middle of a round pool that was very deep. Just the way to instill...

A Question About Breeding Cats by Tracy
OK. I have a question. I've tried this before, but really haven't been satisfied by the answers I've received, but as usual, when checking out these cat groups, I continue to be flummoxed by some of the stuff I read: So some brief background: I adopted my kitty from the Anti-Cruelty Society in...

A question on cats and new people by Rich A.
Hello, I'm living in an apartment, by myself, for a year. I am thinking of adopting a cat to keep me company (and I haven't had a pet in over a decade!). However, I plan on moving in with my girlfriend in about 9 months, and am wondering if a cat would be upset by the presence of a new...

Did the Fleas hitch a ride? by Mike
I recently babysat for some friends for a week and their house was infested with fleas. I found several fleas on myself while I was there, I had several flea bites and their cats were terribly infested with them. Everyday I would go home for a couple hours and when I finally came home at the end of...

Nocturnal howler. by Sue
I've been lurking here for several months. I'm hoping you have some suggestions for my nocturnal howler. He's a great animal. He's a neutered male about 2 years old (neutered at an early age) loving, playful, affectionate etc. no litter box issues either. He is an indoor only cat. But he yells all...

Looking for a vet... What questions should I ask? by Al Kondo
My wife and I are caring for two orphaned kitties that we found abandoned in our garage. We love them and are doing our utmost to make sure that our home and care is the best we can provide. We took them to a vet a week ago.... one that was recommended by some friends. I was a little...

Hello, First, let me thank y'all for the wealth of information that's been in here and archived - it's a *wonderful* resource. It's very much appreciated.... And hopefully this will be an easy question for y'all - our 5 year old female recently developed cystitis w/o crystals (and from what I've...

Euthanasia at home? by A.J. Rivett
Has anybody here ever euthanized their own cat or know a good, quick, humane method of doing so? I have a 15 year old female cat in good shape and she's a fine friend but I know that the clock is ticking when they get to this age. She hates going to the vet and I would like her final exit to be...

Will this work to get rid of fleas? by Mike
I found some flea drops at a store that only contain the IGR Precor (methoprene). So they're only good for preventing the eggs from maturing for up to three months. If I use that on my indoor only cats and brush them with a flea comb at least once a day, will that be a good enough flea control for...

need advice for sick cat by David

Outside pet warmer? by Rebecca B
My cat Sully had a bad RTA about a year ago now, and we were told when we got him from the RSPCA that in his older days and during winter (or damp days) that he might feel his joints aching more than when it's nice and warm (as he'll probably end up with arthritis when he's older). Sully has got a...

spraying turning into peeing by pcb
Over the past few months one of my male cats, Murdoc (neutered) has been spraying in the house more than usual and in the last few weeks it's turned into a full scale pee. He starts to spray and then it seems as if he can't stop and it turns into a pee. The cats use a section of the garden for...

Why the tiger almost killed Roy. by kaeli
I'm pretty sure most of you have heard of Siegfried & Roy and their tigers. In case you haven't heard, one of the tigers finally mauled their "trainer" Roy. (BTW, I am very against "training" wild animals to perform for human amusement) So, from the "take a lesson" department - the reason the...

Cats and portable heaters - recommendations? by Mohair
I was thinking of purchasing a Delonghi oil filled sealed radiator type model but I'm worried about my pet getting burned since she likes to run around the house on occasion. Some reviews on Amazon.com say that there is a danger of children and pets getting burned yet others who've posted say...

Cat has one pupil dilated by FlVEbyFiVE
The vet found an ulcer on my cat's left eye. He gave me 3 ointments for it (atropine, trifluridine, and triple antibiotic). Since I started applying the meds, the eye's pupil has been dilated all day. Is this normal, or should I take the cat back to the vet?
