Oops..I lost my temper dammit by
mystro
I'm a new first time cat owner who adopted a nice 1 year old male who
for the most part is very happy and contented but certainly likes to
push the limits. Not knowing better,I allowed the cat to roam mostly
wherever it wanted when it first came home but now he
wants to get in the way in the...

Oowweee, My Toes! by
Nick
Why, oh why, doesn't the kitty-cat realise that my toes under the blanket
are the same ones that are attached to my body?
Last night, I must have moved in my sleep and got a wide-awake (= bored) cat
attacking the greeblies in the bed. I can remember the teeth sinking into
the flesh... Ouch!
The...

Opening the windows by
Cheryl
Today I thought of a way that I can open my windows (it was 70+
degrees F today) without fear of the screens popping out. I've had
two do that, years apart. One was during a "cat fight" between one of
mine, and a stray, or wandering neighbor cat through a window one
full story up off the ground....

Opinions - kittens for old cat? by
jmc
Many of you here know Meep, my 13 year old, spayed female only cat.
She's not lived with another cat since I adopted her. She's a very
quiet cat but still does get the rips on occasion. She's arthritic and
on medication.
She's a needy cat, and I keep thinking maybe another feline companion...

opinions on cat's weight wanted by
Judy F
Took my cats to the vet for their annual checkup. Jessie who's at least 8
years old (we don't know how old she was when we got her from the shelter)
weighs 9 pounds and the vet was very pleased with that. Oscar and Felix who
are 2 year old brothers (gotten as kittens from a shelter) each weigh...

Opinions on ear-thermometer accueracy by
Poe
Hello.
I have a sick cat who I've been monitoring vitals several times daily
(he's been sick or going on 2 weeks now, in and out of the vet, tests,
IVs, etc. - still working thru it). I have trouble using a rectal
thermometer without help holding him, so when I am alone I've been using
an...

Opinions on fatty liver/possible pancreatitis problem by
Underwood
We have a 6 yr old tabby who was recently introduced (February) to a new
member of the house, a maine coon mix from the local shelter. He
brought what appeared to be a cold home with him, which he transmitted
to Pnut. During most of February, she was dealing with the effects of
the cold or upper...

Opinions on Feline Caviar Holistic Venison by
Jane B
I got a sample of this food and my cats really love it. It's probably the only good quality dry food that they both like. I was wondering if there was any down side to this food other than the price, which is very steep.
I will probably mix it with Wellness Indoor since I really can't afford to...

Opinions on litter? by
Janet
I was using Fresh Step, and found that there was little or no odor and it
was easy to clean. Tried a corn-based one, but didn't like the smell. Went
back to Fresh Step. Tried Arm & Hammer, but there was distinct Eau de Cat
Box in the house and I found it very hard to scoop: it tended to form a...

Opinions please/sick cat (?) by
Gene Martin
Because of the holiday week-end my vet is closed till Tuesday (one more
whole day!) as is ihe other vets I called and I am worried sick. My six
year old male cat urinated Fri. a.m. and nothing else for the day.. He
is acting perfectly normal, eating as usual but he had no BM.
So Fri. I gave him...

Optimum ID tags by
AKT
I have to get my cat a collar and tags (in addition to microchip). She
spends a few hours out side everyday and while she knows our block
well, it would be safer for her to be ID'd.
But here is what I am struggling with: The vet (@Banfield) gave us two
tags after vaccinations that she should have....

Options for insulin resistant cat? by
Brian Link
A friend has a cat recently diagnosed with diabetes. They've
experimented with a vast range of dosages, but even at a very high
dose the cat is not improving.
Their vet has thrown up his hands and said "nothing more we can do",
though the younger vet on staff is suggesting to send the cat to...

Oral hygiene chews for cats. by
Wayne
We are paying a small fortune at the vet's for cat chews. (about $.50 each).
The cat was a stray that needed a lot of special care to recover and these
are easy on his system.
They are cylindrical with the diameter of a man's little finger and about
1.5 inches long (4cm). They are large enough...

oral tumors by

Anyone have any experience with oral tumors in cats? My Mom's cat
Pinky lives with my sister now, and has a fairly large yellow tumor
surrounding one tooth and onto the palate. It will be removed next
week along with a bad canine and a dental cleaning. This is one sort
of tumor I have absolutley...

Orange female cats??! by
JPT
For a long time I was under the impression that all completely orange
(as opposed to calicos with some orange) cats were males, just as the
vast majority of all torties are female. But I have several strays
that hang out in my back yard, and I've seen what I believed to be an
undersized male...

Organic Cat Food by
[email protected]
Hello!
After the huge pet food recall I started looking into Organic Cat Food
vs "regular" cat food. I have two cats and usually have foster cats. I
volunteer at a no-kill cat animal shelter.
It was worse than what I expected with the cat food. Even the top
brands were full of crap. It is like...
