Cat With Chronic Soft Stool by Jannie
I have had Sienna since April and have not been able to keep her stool firm for more then 2 weeks. I started her with Wellness dry, then Before Grain dry, then Science Diet DD, which she lasted the longest on, then after I opened the 2nd bag, she started throwing up and would not eat it. The vet...

Did I read that correctly? by RobZip
A crawl at the bottom of the screen on CNN this morning says North Carolina is considering raising taxes on pet food as a means of reducing pet overpopulation. My first reaction would be that it's about as misguided as raising gas taxes to discourage consumption... Anybody here got more background...

q-tips by Carrie-Lou Salter
My cat LOVES to play with q-tips (cotton swabs).... he picks them up in his mouth, bats them around, goes crazy with them.... he's as happy with one that I hand him straight out of the box as he is stealing one from the garbage container in the bathroom.... Anybody else's kitty do this?

Bengal Katzen and IBD by ggg
Hallo, a few days after paying a deposit for 2 Begal Kittens, I found the following: They are confused as to whether they are wild or domestic and typically have horrible medical problems. The most common in Bengals (it is more common to have it than not) is irritable bowel disease, which...

Any experience with kitty downers? by Justsomebody
My cat is driving me crazy with its vocalization. It wants out, and we're trying to make it an indoor cat. That's the short story. Anyway, I know they do prescribe things for cats. Does anyone have experience with these medications? Do they help relax the critters so they can relearn behaviors?

Angry cat by Jack
Hi, I have a male, neutered tabby; almost 3 years old. Over the past few months he has started exhibiting rather disturbing behaviour. A month or so ago he got angry when I apparently didn't do what he wanted and he swatted me in the face giving me a cut above my eye. Since then whenever he...

how to kill mice without killing my cats? by kitkat via CatKB.com
Two days ago my fiance and I discovered we have mice when our youngest cat stewie caught one and batted it around the living room. We hoped it was an isolated event. yesterday we heard him scurrying in the loft and subsequently bring downstairs yet another mouse. Thus, the general consensus is...

Spring Cleaning and Cats - Re-Post by Peter W.[_2_]
Now that spring is just around the corner, some of you might be itching to do the traditional Spring Cleaning, usually a good thing. But your cats may not think so: Liquid Lysol (or any phenol-based disinfecting cleaner): Harmful or fatal to cats of all sizes from Tigers to domestics in...

One Person. One Cat. Clipping Tips? by James Messick
This cat, unlike other's I've had, is "extremely uncooperative" when it comes to toenail clipping (his, not mine). I prefer not to have to keep hauling him to the vets. Any strategie for a lone person who want to cut his pet's toenaild? Thanks. James

Sick cat by Bill Graham
We feed a stray cat. He isn't really a stray, because we have seen him go into another house down the block. But since he has no collar or chip, we suspect they don't own him either. At any rate, he is sick. His thyroids aren't working properly and he is skinny as a rail even though he eats at...

junk food junkie by Justin L
I went to visit the kitties for lunch today, and while I was eating a Twinkie, Elwood seemed to be really interested. He was pawing at it, and trying to steal it out of my hand!! Are Twinkies dangerous for cats? No, I am not going to make it a regular part of his diet, but am wondering if a...

HELP... Fever and Not Eating by Mavalon
Greetings All, I have a 5 year old neutered male cat who is a very special part of our family. Monday morning, we noticed strange behaviour - not eating, lifeless, depressed, glassy eyes, etc. He also urinated outside his litterbox which he has never done before. We monitored him over the next...

Feline Pine cat litter - how best to transition? by kaeli
Hey all, I'm wanting to switch cat litters to that Feline Pine because of Rowan's being so sensitive to the dust from conventional litter these days. The thing is, they all despise the texture of the FP. I did what the bag said and put one inch on the bottom of the pan and 3 inches of...

Tooth Brushing by Mary
As stated in the past, I had great luck with my cat Gnarly who lived to be 20 and had every tooth when she finally died. I never had her teeth cleaned at all. She never had a day of sickness in her life. No, her breath was not sweet. Fast forward to now--and my little rescue Cheeks, four years...

Brown stuff around my cats mouth by Tesdall
I have a yellow tabby, about 3 years old. He has brown stuff around his lips. We have taken him to the vets, they have cleaned him up; said he had no cavaities and everything looked good. But 1 month after the cleaning he is back to having brown stuff around his mouth again. any ideas what it could...

Frontline -- okay to stockpile it? by Stan Brown
With the vet's approval, Milo is going to become an indoor-outdoor cat starting a few weeks from now. So of course I'll be applying Frontline. The local Petsmart wants $60 for Frontline -- or, rather, that's the price marked on an empty shelf. I expect I can do much better by ordering on...

Kitten whiskers breaking off by bluemaxx
I have a new kitten, who's 13 weeks old, and he's long-haired, although his long hair is still growing in. WHen I first saw him, I thought his whiskers were cut off - they were only about an inch long when I got him - but now that his whiskers are starting to grow longer, the ends of the whiskers...

Standing up to head-butt your the palm of your hand by John Doe[_2_]
My Calico stands on its hind legs to butt the palm of my hand when my hand is raised above its head. Sometimes it grabs my hand but rarely uses its claws. It obviously enjoys that, it will do it three or more times in a row consistently. So I wonder how it learned. I've been trying to teach my...
