Suitable carrier for taking cat on a plane? by
Ellie Pea
A friend of mine is moving from Scotland to Norway soon with her cat
and has to replace her current rather tatty carrier with a new IATA
approved one.
We were looking at them in a pet shop at the weekend and she liked the
idea of one with an opening grill on the top as well as at the front
grill ...

Bald spot after Frontline treatment by
KellyH
I treated my foster cat yesterday with Frontline because I saw a flea in the
carpet in her room and she was scratching. I thoroughly cleaned and
vaccuumed the room. Today, I noticed a nickel-size bald spot on her, near
where I applied the Frontline. I'm not sure if the spot is exactly where
the...

Feliway diffuser w/batteries??? by
Kimkat
My cat is at it again... now he has "nailed" plastic items near the
front door (which I cleaned and moved to higher ground) -- I really
need a Feliway diffuser, but I do not have electricity near the door.
Has anyone seen a battery powered one? Or similar? I do not have rugs
near the door (he...

Clicker training discussion thread by
My2Kitties
I'm using a book to learn how to clicker-train my cats. I've been doing it for 5 days with Ebony, and 3 days with Blackie. The book I am using so far is "Getting Started Clicker Training for Cats," by Karen Pryor. We 3 have all learned a lot so far. My question is for anyone who's familiar and...

How Much Do You Feed Your Cats? by
Mary
I have two cats--a 7.5 lb tabby with a long, skinny
build and a pointed face shape (suggesting she has the
genes for a long, slight build, and may not be "programmed" to get too big)
and a very fat
18 lb tuxedo with a frame the vet says should
carry maybe eight pounds.
The skinny cat gets 3 oz of...

I was new here but.... by
DP
And am totally amazed at how both IBen, Cat Protector and some others need a
good old fashioned spanking. Never have I heard children bicker so much as I
have here.
In the two days I have been reading I have learned a lot. I figure since I will
mostly lurk from this posting on I will say what...

Recycled car tire rubber for climbing material by
John Doe[_2_]
We been using recycled car tire rubber 1/4 inch thick mat since March
2015. It works very well for climbing and it doesn't shed onto the
floor.
It was cut in strips and hot melt glued to 1x4s with about 1/2 inch
hanging over each side.
They have some trouble climbing down, like cats do on...

Two homes and cats by
[email protected]
Me and my partner both work from home and are considering buying a
second home (actually a flat) which we intend to travel between on a
weekly basis - one week in one place another in the other. All we need
to work is an internet connection so it would be quite feasible.
However, we have two cats....

Cortisone cream for Feline acne by
Angela St.Aubin
On the advice of the group, I purchased some cortisone cream for my cats
acne that has gotten rather bad.
Any advice on how to use it? Same dose/frequency as humans? should i rub it
in? will it be dangerous if she licks some off and ingests it?

Lying on their back by

Tiger is a big cat - make that a HUGE cat. He weighed in at 23 pounds at
his last vet visit. He likes to lay on his back with his feet sticking
up. Is this a trait of Maine Coons?

First off, I am really happy to be able to report that Conan is in very nice
feline-friendly, although temporary, surroundings. He is with people who are
very caring and knowledgeable cat-lovers. He was switched to a premium
canned diet and already looks a lot better than he did on...

Berber carpet OK for cats? by
Jonny R
I am going to be replacing the carpet in my basement with something
tough and durable like Berber given that I have a home gym in the
basement. However I was wondering two things:
1) Whether my two cats will always be clawing the carpet and getting
their claws stuck in the Berber "loops", or...

Carrier Case by
Mack A. Damia[_2_]
I have two, and Pookie is about one year older than Bubba. Both
females.
I spoil them; they are house cats and do not roam outside.
Recently, we took them to the vet to get their bottoms trimmed of long
fur as they were having accidents in the litter pan. We got Pookie in
the carrier alright,...

Bats can Give Cats Rabies? by
sheelagh
I found this story rather surprising. I have never heard of bats
carrying rabies before now, but then again, we don't have rabies
here...(Yet!)
http://www.mlive.com/news/chronicle/index.ssf?/base/news-11/1181915114303570.xml&coll=8
Is this a common problem, or a one off incident?
