Kitten with mean streak by
The Doctor
Mean streak is just a way of saying wither the kitten
is feeling we are not giving it enough attention or
we might not be looking after its hygenic needs properly.
We have had this 'street' kitten since mid-September.
For the most part he has been a kitten with a good distemper.
This morning...

How Can I Keep My Cat Off Kitchen Counters? by
Persian
Q. My cat is always jumping up on tables and kitchen counters. When I
think about where those paws have been, I know he needs to stay on the
ground. What can I do?
A. If pressed on the issue, many people will admit that their cats
walk all over them, and that includes walking wherever they...

7-year-old cat with "smoker's cough" ! by
Eddy[_2_]
Does anyone recognise the following?
Puss will be sleeping happily and then he'll start "coughing". It seems
he's trying to move something. He keeps on coughing but whatever it is
doesn't move or stop aggravating him and so he gets anxious and gets
quickly down onto the floor and into the crouch...

Trying to rescue a mature female cat from the cold by
The Doctor
We have an old stray female in our neighbourhood.
It might be pregnant.
It comes for food and water. Because we are having cold days
the water does tend to freeze quickly but the food is good.
How can one get a said cat indoors and start earning
its trust? It might have kitten to rescue.

Male cat getting underfoot by
John Doe
My first male cat has been around for five years. Sometimes, I am
walking around, maybe in a hurry doing stuff, but not really
paying attention to him (in other words... not causing it stress
by keying on him or anything). Sometimes he darts in front of me
to get to another location. Taking a...

Curious re-united behavior! by
Lord_Alex
Hello everybody.
A while back I adopted two cats from the pound at the same time, a
female kitten and a 2 year old male.
The male is super laid back, the female had obviously been
traumatized. Even though they spent some time together at the animal
shelter she was pretty cautious about him and the...

Cat does not like "cat" toys. [slightly morbid] by
Lord_Alex
No surprise, kitty loves to chase a toy tied to a string. Fetch, or
cat fishing, if you will.
Toy mice, bundles of feathers, pretty much anything that moves they
will chase.
They like those Ty toys; beanie babies. Except for one. Beanie baby
tiger (specificly "India" of the Beanie Buddies...

Do your cats get enough stimulation? by
John Doe
Can you imagine being an animal stuck inside all day, especially
when your manager leaves for work/whatever, and the place is
lifeless?
I make neat things for my cats, not because I love them more than
you, but because I enjoy designing and building needful things.
One fairly easy to use...

Astroturf, almost as useful as a litter box by
John Doe
Maybe even more important than their skyway, Astroturf is amazing
stuff. Especially for around the litter box. Also for bedding. For
bedding, I put paper towels on top of it (replaced regularly), and
they love it to sleep on. Takes some getting used to, but even my
feral female uses it.
Just...

Continuing saga of the hard-core feral female... by
John Doe
Looking at a house cat and realizing that it's not really a house
cat is kind of weird.
Lately, she has been meowing softly when hungry and food is on the
way. Otherwise, things do not fundamentally change. I just wonder
if keeping her is like taking in any other adult wild animal. She
has...

Fresh Step Natural Scoop, the dust returns by
John Doe
Still using it. Works well for one cat. The other splashes the
litter all over (in her covered litter box, an amazing device), so
that one is significantly more difficult to clean especially since
the Essentials does not clump well. Still like it better for the
lack of dust.

Cats too fat. by
Bill Graham
I recently acquired a male cat from a friend who is going RV'ing for the
next couple of years, and needed a home for him. He weighs around 30 lbs,
which is over twice what my other 4 cats weigh. they all have an infinite
bowl of kibbles to graze on, and I also open cans for them whenever they...

My cat is starting to bite by
Dick Adams
My cat is 11 years old and has now started biting.
Last week, while sitting on my lap, she turned and
bit my on th wrist. Last night she bit me on the
leg.
Is this common in cats as they get older?
Is there a cure (other than hitting her) for biting?

Recurrent Choke (Yankee) by
jmc[_4_]
Yankee choked tonight again, for no reason we understand. He gets a
small amount of food... physically it's about half a quart of pellets.
He gets water in his pellets to make soup. He does not bolt his food.
In fact, the BO has noted that he chews carefully, mouth closed.
So why did he choke...

Tuna question by
jmc[_4_]
I know that tuna as a primary part of a cat's diet is a very bad
thing... however, is a bit of tuna added to a cat's regular diet of
canned food harmful?
I ask 'cause I'm still having trouble getting Meep to eat consistently,
but she'll eat anything that I put about half a tablespoon or so of...

Question for Phil P by
John Ross Mc Master
My cat Beauty is having bowel movements every second day, not every
day. She has no worms, is indoor only, is overweight and 7-8 years
old. She is otherwise healthy.
Is this normal for her age? Vets found nothing wrong. She has been
like this a year so far.

Purrs needed for Meep by
jmc[_2_]
Many of you know Meep, my 15 year old moggie. She has a host of health
issues, including arthritis and cystitis.
I'm on my way to the vet in a few minutes, she's been throwing up more
frequently, and she's dropped weight shockingly in just a week or so.
She's not a fat cat to begin with, so I...

Espy doesn't have diabetes, but... by
dgk
I took Espy (fixed male 8yo DSH) to the vet because I've noticed him
drinking water a few times and he doesn't normally do that. The vet
tested him and the results show that the does not have diabetes, but
he has dropped from 9 to 8 lbs over the last year. The vet isn't
concerned but I watched Espy...
