Permanent mark on fur instead of collar? by 223rem
My cats keep losing their breakaway collars (on which I write my cell phone #) when playing outside. Would it be possible to somehow mark their fur with a die to make it obvious that they are pets? I've considered writing my cell phone number on them with a permanent marker, but I wonder about...

I don't know if they can count. But I swear that my KitKat can tell time. In the am he wake me up I look at the clock and then he does - if it isn't 6:30 he will run away. It if it 6:30 - he will keep pawing at me until I get out of bed to feed him....

Oh My! by Catnipped
It seems we have a house guest. This little fellow followed my husband home. We gave him some food on the deck, like we do for all the strays, but he stayed by the back door and cried and cried. Then it started pouring buckets here and he was huddled under the spa canopy but when he saw...

Fever? by Catnipped
What is the normal temp of a kitten? The little fellow I just found feels very warm to me. He's not coughing or wheezing and his eyes look pretty clear. If there is a fever, what do you think is the most likely cause. He'll be going to the vet as soon as I get a recommendation form the...

I have a bowl of dry cat food in our backyard, for our "outside" cats, and it is often over-run by flies; is there any way to get rid of 'em (the flies) ? Thanks, Shell

Report Jackson for animal abuse by [email protected]
I strongly urge everyone here to contact PETA, World Wildlife Fund, ASPCA, Humane Societies and any other animal rights organizations you can think of. One of Jackson's former boy toys and his family has admitted to throwing rocks at a caged lion at Neverland. They threw rocks to make the lion...

what material for climbing? by John Doe
There has to be some material cats can use for indoor climbing besides carpet or Sissel rope. Maybe something that also can be attached to a 2 x 4. Maybe some sort of plastic grating (yes, of course it will have to be safe). Next time I go to the hardware store, I plan to spend a lot of time...

Ping Phil - PSS cat and surgery/pain meds by KellyH
My PSS cat Ana had surgery yesterday, she swallowed a piece of plastic (see Scary episode and the update). She is on Bupronex for pain, which she received 3 doses at 0.2 ml today. She weighs 10 lbs. I am concerned about how her liver is processing this, and the anesthesia from the surgery. I'm...

Cat Collar Question / Cat harness question by Suzanne via CatKB.com
How do cats typically react to harnesses. Never thought about it, but have seen posts about here. Do they try to run away, walk in circles, run from side to side..I can't imagine them walking in a straight line like a dog..Just wondering now that the weather is getting warmer, I might want to add a...

Tiger = Houdini by Brian Link
I was walking Tiger around the neighborhood a couple nights ago. He loves this - and until a year or so ago we couldn't find a leash he would endure. He would spit and fight and finally hide any time we tried to get a collar on him. So I found a simple string harness, and he has no problem with...

Scary episode by KellyH
My cat Ana started throwing up two days ago. Yesterday, I wasn't home much of the day, but when I came home, she seemed fine. Soon after I gave her her evening dose of medicine, she threw up twice, clear liquid. This morning, there was more liquid vomit and she seemed lethargic. Off to...

Scary episode - Update by KellyH
Ana is now home from the vet. When I called this morning to check on her, she wasn't eating, but I was told she was OK to go home this afternoon. I came to pick her up, and the desk person told me the doctor wants her to stay over the weekend. I wasn't happy about this, and I asked to talk...
