Neutering an older cat by Buckley's mom via CatKB.com
My cat Buckley went in for neutering today. He's about 9 -10 months old -- is he to old for it to have any impact on his aggression? He's a total purr box but has also become very bity! If neutering doesn't help this, what will? Thanks!

The Budda Kats by [email protected]
The Budda Kats are characters I created inspired by my family's three cats, Teac, Reno, and Little Teac. They are great amazing little beings. Im not sure what I'm going to do with these Budda Kat characters, but I want to show people, and let them know the Budda...

What to do with a sick stray? by Buddy
Please get a Vet's opinion. Sven-Olof Berg wrote: Hi, once in a while a cat drops by for a visit, and meanwhile I suspect she doesn't have anyone to care for her. This is not only because she seems quite independent, but just today

Caring for an 11 year old cat? by Buddy
I would have blood work done annually at least at this age. Especially look for liver and/or kidney failrue and hyper thyroidism and possibly diabetes. Just keep the blood work up to date.

10 y.o. cat, acute ataxia, please help w/ 2nd vet visit by Buddy
You are smart to get a second opinion and further testing. Make sure they do the blood test for hyperthyroidism. My cat started with the twitching before being diagnosed. The extra loving may be his way of telling you he doesn't feel good. Glad to hear he is at least acting better for...

Ear Wax?? by Buddy
We adopted a 3 year old Maine Coon a year ago from a shelter. His ears were full of a dark brown waxy substance. When I took him to the vet, the vet cleaned them out and gave me some drops to put in his ears for 10 days. It looked like they cleared up, but after another week or so, his ears...

Allergic skin reaction? by Buddy
You should call your vet tonight - surely they have someone on call. I don't' know anything about the meds, but the symptoms are not good. I wouldn't give him any more meds or wheat bran until you talk to the vet.

Shots or No Shots by Buddy
I will be taking my 4 year old for his annual checkup next month and am wondering what the concensus is on what shots an indoor, only kitty really needs? Also, opinions on the injectable vacines and the nasal vacines. He received a nasal vacine last year and acquired a sinus infection afterwards...

Take him into an emergency vet now!! He sounds like he is crashing and you are going to lose him. On Feb 6, 7:51pm, James Egan wrote: My cat Chip who has hyperthyroidism seems to have a stroke. I was going to have the radio iodine therapy, but it may be too late....

Behavioral Problem? by Buddy's Mom
We adopted a Maine Coon from a shelter about 3 years ago - he is nearly 6 years old now. He is the only cat and an inside cat. We have no children, so it is only my husband and myself. In April, I went out of town for one night. Buddy, the kitty, attacked my husband in bed that night - this was...

Bladder Infection by Buddy's Mom
I had to take my 5 year old Maine Coon into the vet today for what was diagnosed as a bladder infection. They did get a urine sample and tested it - there was blood in it, white blood cells, etc. No crystals. His symptoms were going to the litter box constantly and either not urinating at all or...

Royal Canin by Buddy's Mom
So now I am reading that Royal Canin hard food for cats contains too much Vit. D and is also killing cats? And that is what I switched to from canned food. I guess someone was correct - just cook chicken yourself and feel it to the kitties.

Fancy Feast by Buddy's Mom
Is anyone else still feeding with canned Fancy Feast? I haven't seen it on the recall list, but I stopped using it yesterday - just in case. Seems like they are adding to the list all the time. However, every time I go to feed the kitty with hard food he goes to the cupboard that the canned food...

best way to groom long-hair cats ? by Buddy's Mom
I would try to cut out the mats and then try to comb them every day or every other day at least to prevent mats from happening again. If you aren't comfortable cutting out the mats yourself, take the kitty to a groomer. No reason to shear the entire cat - just remove the mats. It is much easier...
