Feline bladder cancer by
cindys
I noticed that my cat, Amanda, who is just shy of 14 years old and has cardiomyopathy and the start of CRF was recently spending an inordinate amount of time scratching around in her litter box. I also had noticed she wasn't grooming quite as well as she used to (but it wasn't significant, and I...

taste... by
Joe Canuck
Just brought another bag of Science Diet home and noticed this text
"...great taste..." on the bag.
How are we to know it tastes great?
Has anyone here ever been so brave as to taste the stuff?
If so, did it taste great?
Do you think your cat will agree with your assessement of the taste?

Lying on their back by
MIKE
Tiger is a big cat - make that a HUGE cat. He weighed in at 23 pounds at
his last vet visit. He likes to lay on his back with his feet sticking
up. Is this a trait of Maine Coons?

Ping Dan!!! Conan Update!! by
Mary
Dan,
I just spoke with Katherine at the shelter and she says just come in and ask
for her and you can take Conan. She will be there tomorrow, but she does not
have to be there for you to do this.
I have arranged for you to receive a PayPal for $200 for the adoption fee,
your expenses, and...

How Much Do You Feed Your Cats? by
Mary
I have two cats--a 7.5 lb tabby with a long, skinny
build and a pointed face shape (suggesting she has the
genes for a long, slight build, and may not be "programmed" to get too big)
and a very fat
18 lb tuxedo with a frame the vet says should
carry maybe eight pounds.
The skinny cat gets 3 oz of...

Cats and grains by
Kiran
http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/grains.php
Grains have been a major mainstay for humans, and the agriculture as
well as use of grain in our diet, providing us with bread - a dense
source of energy and nutrients - have propelled human civilization
forward in its evolution. But what about...

Mega colon by
Rhonda
Anyone had a cat with this?
What did you do and how long did it take the cat to get going again?
We've (we and the vet) been working with one of our cats for 3 days now.
I feel so sorry for the cat.

Best Window Seat? by
Mary
Cheeks is going crazy trying to watch the little birds who appear to
be trying to build a nest at the top of my office window. But the sill
is too shallow for her to sit comfortably so she has to stretch on tip
toe from the filing cabinet to watch them.
Any tips on good window seats for kitties...

Peeing in corners by
Sylvia M[_3_]
I've been out of town, visiting my daughter and her family, and attending
my granddaughters university graduation. . . that's the good part.
My daughter's cat, Cleo, started peeing in corners of the room with her
litterbox, and on the rug in the foyer.
This may have started when they acquired a...

Did I read that correctly? by
RobZip
A crawl at the bottom of the screen on CNN this morning says North Carolina
is considering raising taxes on pet food as a means of reducing pet
overpopulation. My first reaction would be that it's about as misguided as
raising gas taxes to discourage consumption...
Anybody here got more background...

I was new here but.... by
DP
And am totally amazed at how both IBen, Cat Protector and some others need a
good old fashioned spanking. Never have I heard children bicker so much as I
have here.
In the two days I have been reading I have learned a lot. I figure since I will
mostly lurk from this posting on I will say what...

new cats; tip of tongue sticking out by
Jean B.
Well, the new cats have arrived. Only time will tell whether they
will be foster cats or will remain here for life. They will be
here at least until December, when they can go to a no-kill
shelter, but that seems like a bad place for shy cats. Of course,
since they only arrived on Tuesday, Mingy...

Cortisone cream for Feline acne by
Angela St.Aubin
On the advice of the group, I purchased some cortisone cream for my cats
acne that has gotten rather bad.
Any advice on how to use it? Same dose/frequency as humans? should i rub it
in? will it be dangerous if she licks some off and ingests it?

Female Cats Not Getting Along and the Consequences by

This may be a bit long, but please bear with me : I sorely need some
advice here.
We have two cats, Callie and Flower. Callie is 16 months, Maine Coon
mix and was adopted at 6 months old from the Anti-Cruelty Society in
Chicago. She's a great cat and we adore her. We moved back to...

Considering Radio Iodine Treatment by
L
I'm about 90% sure this is the way I want to go. My cat was diagnosed
with hyperthyroidism about 3 weeks ago. He has been on Tapazole 2x a
day since then. He hates being pilled, it takes 3 or 4 tries to get
him to take the pill each time. His activity level has gone down
drastically, his toy mouse...

Bats can Give Cats Rabies? by
sheelagh
I found this story rather surprising. I have never heard of bats
carrying rabies before now, but then again, we don't have rabies
here...(Yet!)
http://www.mlive.com/news/chronicle/index.ssf?/base/news-11/1181915114303570.xml&coll=8
Is this a common problem, or a one off incident?
