Any advice on cleaning my cat? by Makoto Taniguchi
I have an 8 yr old female tabby who goes berserk whenever we try and wash her off. We usually get cuts all over our hands and it takes like an hour or so to complete because of her refusal to be washed. We also have the inherent problem of her licking herself when we're soaping her. What can we do?

Auto Trader by Cat Protector
Hi Mom, Thanks for the idea regarding Auto Trader. I might actually get money doing it this way. If I sell the car at $2200 (this is less the engine) or more, maybe I can get someone willing to buy it for the parts. They also have an online auction as well. It is a nice idea. The ads cost $27 for...

Cat went in litter box, but didn't cover it up by [email protected]
The cat finally peed in the litter box for the first time, but didn't bury it. Is that strange? It's just sitting on top in a puddle. Kind of hard for the litter to clump that way. :-)

Mini-update: Benny's eye by Rene
This is a small update on Benny, the cat with the cloudy eye. He's been getting the eye drops for around 10 days now, and the discoloration that was previously there has lessened. His eye nearly looks normal, even though he can't see out of it. He's getting smart about drop time, though. He...

13 yr old male cat had a stroke--is there any hope? by Chris
Hi folks, My 13 yr old male cat Socrates had what the vet said looked like a stroke this morning. He looked terrible, could barely pick up his head, drooling, panting and bellows like he's in pain. He seemed to be ok the last few days and appears to be in otherwise good health (being a papmered...

colitis by afr
The switch from dry to canned (to manage FLUTD) seems to be resulting in some mild colitis in my cat. My doc has given me an anointment to put on his behind, but I'm concerned about his internal comfort level. He isn't eating as much as he was initially, and I'm assuming it's because of this. Any...

Is this unusual?-What is the reason for this behavior? by Kuisse0002
My indoor-outdoor cat sleeps in her well protected and insulated cat bed/tunnel just outside the main house on my patio. It rained very heavily the other day and the next day I did the usual, always clean out her bed & blanket to air it. But to my disgust, she left her poop (intact & firm - not...

Measuring urine ph in cat litter? by Al Kondo
I am considering monitoring my cats urine ph to prevent later health problems. I understand I can use a pool ph meter or, I imagine, one used for gardening purposes. My question is... Can I measure the ph of the urine in the cat litter (I use clay litter)? If the litter has a base ph.... Is...

can clavimox kill a cat? by lakinapook
On Friday evening we brought her to the vet because of a urinary problem, they kept her overnight, and then released her the next day with clavamox (an antibiotic) to give twice a day. Saturday seemed to go OK, she wasn't exactly energetic, but no one was really expecting her to be anyway. Then...

How to keep a Water Bowl from freezing? by Mr B
Howdy, We have our stray cats that we take care of and are looking for a way to keep their water bowl from freezing. I have built them a house to live in which they like, but it just dropped to the 20s in the past day or so and their water bowl freezes. I'm guessing I could get some sort of...

Angry cat by Jack
Hi, I have a male, neutered tabby; almost 3 years old. Over the past few months he has started exhibiting rather disturbing behaviour. A month or so ago he got angry when I apparently didn't do what he wanted and he swatted me in the face giving me a cut above my eye. Since then whenever he...

Peace lilly question. by No1
So I was reading and it seems these are not good plants for the "kids" to be munching on. Personally we don't care for them to munch on ANY plants, but that's beside the point. However, point in question, we were just given a Peace Lilly and before we could put it in it's own room, our...

Christmas tree kitty fun by Governor George Liquor
I set up my Christmas tree yesterday, and Jack and Rizzo have discovered it's this season's best entertainment. The tree is an eight foot, pre-lit artificial one (real trees barely last through Christmas in Florida, and besides, I find the idea wasteful). As I burst through the door from the...

Crossed eyes by Mary
I'm still thinking about my neighbor's new adoptee that she rescued from death row. Her eyes are crossed. Does this mean she sees the way I do if I cross my eyes? Anyone else with cross-eyed cats? My neighbor is willing to have them fixed if she can, if the vet says the cat will be happier. I have...

REPLIES TO: Is this unusual?-What is the reason for this behavior? by Kuisse0002

Maine-Coon wanderer by Stuart
Is there any way to refrain our cat from wandering too far.. I'm thinking theres probably little you can do to control how far your cat wanders - but it is a worry when he is gone for the biggest part of the day, and always relief to see him show up later on. You could say that so long as he keeps...

Help for Skittish Cat by Jess Knoch
Hello all, after reading your newsgroup for a while I think it is time to ask my question. I have three female cats, one 13-year-old with some health problems, and two year-and-a-half littermates. Urza is bigger and a bit stronger than her sister Mishra, but for some reason Urza has turned into...

Aluminum foil for furniture scratching. by [email protected]
Ok...I sprayed the furniture with "No Scratch," I've sprayed the scratching post with catnip spray, I've put the double-sided sticky tape on the chair. She isn't repelled by the spray, and she actually goes AROUND the sticky tape, finds a spot that's fabric, and scratches it! All while her...
