Losing the Food Wars. by
jmc
Meep, spayed female, 12 years old, cystitis. Has attacks when fed dry,
even the veterinary urinary kind.
So, of course, I feed her wet. Well, I try to. She won't eat even the
flavors she seems to like, consistently. The last time I took her to the
vet, the vet confirmed she's a little...

cat eats litter and ashes by
jjg
Hello, *
Our cat occasionally eats litter (clean litter, as he is not normally using
it) and I have also seen him eating ashes from the fireplace. For the rest,
he looks good, and eats normally, but I am worried about the "additives".
Do they contain some nutrient that is missing from his diet? Is...

? on Laxa-Stat by
SueB
I have a heck of a time trying to apply Laxa-Stat on my cats' noses,
and thought about putting a little in their wet food. However, the box
says not to add it to their food, but doesn't say why. What's the
difference--on the nose or in the food? Any info would be
appreciated. TIA!

Cat tattoos? by
gravatiaX
Hi-
I adopted 2 beautiful brothers from the animal shelter on Sept 29. The
shelter told us that they were 2 yrs old and that they were originally
brought in sometime in Feb 05. Then (not sure when), someone adopted
them, only to return them to the shelter in early Sept. After a
check-up, our vet...

Cats & Parrots - a success!!! by
Jim
Hi Guys,
Thanks for your comments on the parrots & cats scenario. I decided to get
the birds, and thought I should provide a wee update.
First of all, Tango and Tootsie have been getting supervised garden visits
over the past two months, and they do not really like the crows and
seagulls - if...

Ever domesticated a feral cat? by
John Doe
Anyone here have personal experience living with a feral cat turned
indoor-only cat, long-term?
I'm just wondering how the progress went over time. Whether maybe it
takes years or longer. How slow is the transition? Do they ever fully
recover?
By "feral cat" I mean whatever house cat born in the...

Mixing an older cat with the younger ones? by
dgk
I can't believe I'm even considering this. There is a cat (Jackie) at
the local pet shop. She was one of 29 cats that lived with a rescuer
but he got too sick to take care of them. So, at age 12 or 13, she is
now in a cage at the pet shop with five or six other cats.
She is one very scrawny cat...

cat plays hockey with dry food by

Sir Lancelot decided it is more fun to bat his chunks of food across
the floor than it is to eat them.... Now he does have lots of toys to
play with and 3 other cats. They sometimes will play with him and
sometimes they still don't want anything to do with him... I think
they are afraid of his...

Anyone making cat food? by
Ken Knecht
I'm gathering the ingredients to make my own cat food and if someone here
is doing this I have a few questions.
No, not recipes, I have those.
Like do you feed the same amount as you did the previous canned and dry
foods? (My cat is on a diet and I give her 1/4 cup of food in each of
three...

The cats are eating better than... by
Barry
The humans. So I hear!
Have you ever spent more on cat food than your own?
Please, don't be afraid to tell the truth here.
How many times have I gone in the grocer and went straight for the cat
food? Plenty.
but I've never spent more money on cat food than I have for my own
food.

Cat heaving often by

I have a 5 year old B & W tabby that has been having problems with

I'm no newcomer to cat ownership (being owned by a cat, that is) and have
only spent two years of my life without a one. Recently we took in an
abandoned 4 week old female kitten and like every other kitten I've raised,
I lavished Five with love, affection, attention, lots of lap time...you...
