The Emily Saga Continues by
T
Emily appears to be responding well to the antibiotic treatment for her
URI. But yesterday I brought her back to the vet and then the bad news
came.
Emily is 14 years old, a tiny little black (chocolate brown in reality)
cat who took over the house and had dominion over the two male cats,...

Hi, new kitten question... by
[email protected]
He, we recently adopted a kitten from the local shelter. He is a
siamese mix, along with possibly Himalayan or Ragdoll. Anyway, I have
never owned a cat and asked the shelter a million questions. Many of
them regarding the litterbox. They all told me that it's instictual,
that they will just go to...

Nutritional benefits of Banana for Pets by
Tina
Nutritional benefits of Banana
Because of their impressive potassium content, bananas are highly
recommended by doctors for patients whose potassium is low. One large
banana, about 9 inches in length, packs 602 mg of potassium and only
carries 140 calories. That same large banana even has 2 grams...

Did you ever have a cat that got VAS?
(Vaccine-Associated Sarcomas)
I have heard of cats who got it......and because of this we do not get
our cats the leukemia & rabies vaccination, neither of which is required
where we live. Is ie required where you live?
This is from the web site below:

Cat calming muzzle by
Chris
What can you do about a long-haired cat who needs his bum shaving?
We took him to the vet, who said it would probably need shaving every
three months.
Could we do it?
I've heard of cat muzzles which cover the eyes of the cat and hence have
a calming effect. Any experience of these? Or where...

How does Petco survive? by
Kiran
On every item I have checked, Petco is more expensive than Petsmart.
Also, the two often have branches near each other. Do you understand
why some people visit Petco and why it survives despite higher prices?

Tick question by
Wendy
We trapped a few kittens yesterday in a feral colony. I was checking them
over today and noticed that one has an engorged tick on the back of it's
neck. If I apply frontline will that kill an already attached tick safely or
do I need to remove the tick?

does litter robot work? by
kitkat via CatKB.com
I'm thinking of getting the litter robot as a gift to my 2 cats for christmas
(read: gift to myself).
is it worth $300? One of my cats shreds the litter bags and every week its a
gigantic ickfest to clean. If this will remedy that problem I don't care
what it costs.

Very Very Hard Question--Owner's Quality of Life by
[email protected]
I'm posting with a problem that's caused so much pain for me I don't
know how I've managed these past few years. I have a 14+ year old
former feral I inherited when she was already older than 10 and whom I
tried to domesticate. I succeeded partly, but only partly.
My little angel never got over...

Fat cat -- what (if anything) to do? by
Charlie Wilkes
Tweaker has gotten pretty fat. Not disgustingly fat, but quite plump.
He seems to be the picture of health and contentment, but he's an
indoor cat with not much inclination to physical exertion.
I give him two small handfuls of urinary-tract-health kibbles each
day, and I rarely give him food...

Metal pee detector by
Richard Evans
I had a carpet cleaner come by today to see about cleaning some pee
stains from the carpet. He had some sort of metal rod with two sharp
points on the end. When he stuck the points in the pee stains, the rod
beeped. This, he said, indicated that the stains were all the way
through to the padding...

Cat in Heat by
Dulce
My 1 year old indoor female cat is in heat right now. Poor girl! She makes a
lot of noises and is acting vey extrange.
I was wondering if she is in pain or not. Does her body ache? Is anything I
can do for her during "those days"?
Thank you very much. Looking forward for your kind news.

Is it the Iams? by

Here's the story - 8 year old neutered male - was starting to eat less
and less - had been on Purina One for years (with a treat of canned
food ev. 4th day) but suddenly not liking it - switched to Iams
chicken - he gobbled it down - a few days later, he has a diarr.

Strange bump on kitten - update by
Lynne
Levi saw the vet this morning for another booster. The bump is definitely
from his last injection--he said that can persist for up to a month. It's
smaller now, too.

Help! Furry Baby Exposed to Ghetto Cat by

I'm really worried about my cat now. My neighbor came over last night
with a really friendly outdoor cat that has been seen in the
neighborhood over the last few weeks. Random neighborhood people have
been trying to find the owner but no one has claimed it.It's neutered
and has a collar. It sat on...
