What to do With Old Cat Litter? by
Smartin
Just wondering if anyone has creative ideas for what to do with old cat
litter that has been reused for months on end...
We have four boxes and use clumping litter with sifting pan liners.
Every week we sift out the clumpy bits, add a generous sprinkle of
deodorizer to the box, and top off with...

Bengal Cats:are they hybrids or are they true domestic cats? by
Hemmaholic
First, the Bengal Breed was developed by crossing the ASIAN LEOPARD CAT
with a short haired domestic. That makes the Bengal both a hybrid as
well as a domestic cat. The eat the same thing any other domestic
breed eats and are subject to the same ailments as any other domestic
breed.
They are...

Emery boards? by
Wojtek
Why do cats like emery boards so much? Mine tries to eat it. And also digs
very deep into my wife's makeup bag to get at it. Is the smell of the glue
they use? Or more of a texture thing?

Stuck myself with the cat's lancet by
Richard Evans
The cat and I are both diabetic. I check my own sugar 6-8 times per
day, I check his twice. We have separate glucometer kits. Today, while
preparing to check the cat's sugar, I had a brain fart and instead of
lancing the cat I lanced my own forearm with a lancet that had been
previously used on the...

euthanasia - anything I should know? by
Gary Warner
Hello - I'm a somewhat frequent Usenet user, but never here. My parents
have a cat that it's now time to put to sleep. He's about 14 years old and
over the last month (or less) has ballooned up with fluid in the abdomen.
The
vet did a blood test (negative for any diseases) and then an...

Picking a new vet by
Warren O
Hi,
I've never had to look for a veterinarian. Now that our Georgia has CRF,
we would like to find one closer to us, possibly one that has weekend
hours, too.
What questions do you ask when looking for a vet, or is it all trial and
error? Word of mouth would be a good place to start, but most of...

Bizarre things the vet said by
Candace
I was at a new-to-me vet yesterday. My regular vet was full and would
only take my cat if I would drop him off so they could look at him
between other patients and even then they were going to charge me for
an unscheduled office visit. I was peeved and went elsewhere. I liked
the new vet, an...

Dinner Guest that didn't leave! by
Phil P.
I was outside at about 9 PM working on my cats' pen when this handsome fella
strolls up, meows at me, and plops down about 10 feet away. I thought he
was probably someone's cat who got out because there aren't many strays or
ferals in my town. The few that I know of hang out by the restaurants in...

Momma cat may already be pregnant by
alien from planet x
The momma cat started hissing and raising hell toward
her four month old kittens, then she went missing for
seven days. Now that she's back she looks like she has a
buldge and she's passing gas like the last time she was
pregnant. I had planned to get her fixed, but expected it
would be at least a...

New Onset Spraying in 13 year old Himalayan male by
Nancy
Subject: New Onset Spraying in 13 yr old neutered Himalayan male
For the last 6 months, a female cat and her two kittens have taken
over our yard (and we've been feeding them but mostly keeping them out
of the house.) Mr. Redford our 13 year old cream point Himalayan and
only house cat has been...

Abandoned Kitten Needs A Name by
Tony
Hi all
Just got a new kitten last wednesday. A friend came over with him and said his
friend found him abandoned along with 2 of his littermates which were dead.
Initially I said I did not want the cat as I have four others so he said they
were
going to put him back where they found him. At that...

Post-spay not eating? by
Darkchild
Hi everyone - it's me again.
Millie has been home now for two days. She was spayed on Wednesday; the
day before she received her shots.
I don't think she has eaten since Tuesday night - I'm very worried. I
called the vet today, they said to come in tomorrow to get some a/d food
which should tempt...

FLUTD and what to expect????? by
afr
I realize this post is nearly a year old, but since I am here for the same
issue, I thought I'd attach my concerns to this post.
Ninetten days ago, my 8 1/2 year old cat george was howling. I took him
into the ER and he was blocked. They unblocked him, and my vet kept him
for a few days and sent...

Good News and Bad News (a foster update). by
Kalyahna
The good news: Malcolm went back to the humane society, into the multiple
cat room. He's in hog heaven. Chowing down, loving the other kitties. What's
amusing is that he's a big solid boy with huge paws and not an ounce of chub
on him but he's so easily intimidated by the black and white female in...

One eye darker than the other? by
jmc
There's nothing actually *wrong* with Meep's eyes, at her last physical
they tested her vision and looked at her eyes, but I've noticed a
curious thing:
One eye appears darker than the other in certain light (always the same
eye) - is it possible for the tapus luteum (sp? the reflective bit...

FelV Question by

I am currently looking for home for FelV+ stray, Big Boy, (about which I
posted before). I have other cats who cannot be exposed to him so he is
isolated. I get very conflicting info about one thing: I would be able to
let him loose in my bedroom (instead of the attached bath & large dog...

Suitable carrier for taking cat on a plane? by
Ellie Pea
A friend of mine is moving from Scotland to Norway soon with her cat
and has to replace her current rather tatty carrier with a new IATA
approved one.
We were looking at them in a pet shop at the weekend and she liked the
idea of one with an opening grill on the top as well as at the front
grill ...
