splay legs in 3 week old kitten by Mariaricardo
I hope there is someone out there who has had some experience (hopefully successfully), with splay legs in kittens. One of a litter of four born three weeks ago has hind legs that go out to the side, like a frog. He is able to walk and lift his abdomen up from the carpet, but his legs are weak. ...

"stay away" by ken
Does anyone have esperience with a sensor-device called STAY AWAY? If a cat jumps on a table or counter, the sensor sets off a noise and a blast of air? Does it work and if so, where can you buy it? Thanks Ken

Cats won't eat medicated food by Helene
One of my two cats has been urinating just outside the litter box, so the vet suggested they be tested for crystals in the urine. It seems they both have crystals, so the vet prescribed medicated food to help treat the crystals. I started feeding the food last night, and neither cat will eat it....

Benefiber? by jmc
Poor Meep is still having some constipation problems. She gets as much water and wet food as she'll eat... and as she's very fussy, I doubt she'd go for the pumpkin that has been suggested before. I was wondering, is Benefiber (the clear, tasteless people fiber supp) safe for cats? What would...

Question about a vax by Cheryl
Hi all. This is probably a stupid question for some of you who know drugs and interactions, reactions but I thought I'd ask. Shamrock has an appt tomorrow night for his FeLV booster (necessary living with a FeLV+ cat) and he's due for a dental but I'm not scheduling them together so we'll schedule...

Urinary tract crystals - causes by Rhino
My Samba, a five and a half year old female who was spayed at six months, has recently started peeing inappropriately at sporadic intervals. Over the space of the last several weeks, she has several times pulled a towel off the towel rack in the bathroom and, in three cases, has peed on the towel....

Colour of cat = personality of cat? by Ellie Bentley
Stemming right back to Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Black Cat" there has been a perception that "little black cat" is usually bright, intelligent, and utterly loving and devoted. (Although some times the bright intelligent black cat has been associated with the supernatural!) As for ginger...

CRF cat not eating by Sara Jane
Gibbs is an 18 year old orange striped cat. She was diagnosed with renal failure about 1 1/2 years ago. The big problem now is loss of appetite. When she was first diagnosed, the vet prescribed pepcid. She hadn't lost weight and was eating normally. The vet prescribed it as a preventative....

Declawing Question by Jon Enslin
Hi there! I have an improtant question regarding my cats. I have just gotten them declawed - it's kind of funny to see them stagger around almost like they are still drugged!! Anyway, I am concerned about something. It looks as though they are in some pain and there has been some...

Poor Conan by Candace
I feel certain that Conan's return to a high-kill shelter has probably resulted in his death already. Let's all hope that there is something like the Rainbow Bridge or that cats have an afterlife, too, so that Conan finally feels love and happiness now after an earthly life of being dumped and put...

Nic is Dying by Sethran
Most of you won't know me. I haven't posted here for probably over a year...my computer suffered a fatal crash and I never bothered to rejoin my newsgroups after it was fixed. But there might be a few who remember my Nic...my beautiful boy. I'm not sure why I'm posting this...I just need to, I...

Cat ****s on floor! Help! by Dally
Male cat born 1/10/04 (so he's five months old now.) I got him about 6 weeks ago from a shelter. He had been an indoor cat and had lived with his mother and siblings. From the very first day he would go into one particular corner of our downstairs powderroom and **** on the floor. With two...

Cat tuned mean...what do I do by grasshopper
I have two cats and one has gone completely insane. She hisses at everything and growls at everyone. She also will bite if you stop her from going outside or anything that she wants to do. When she bites it's not a love bite she's going for blood and will go after the face. I have no idea how...

Cats are EVIL, the DEVIL created them ! by Ted Harvard
Cats are EVIL, they're the work of the devil, made to collect your souls and to turn you into brainless slaves of hell. If you like cats, you will lose your soul to be damned for eternal torment in hell.Demons and devils will feast on your soul for all eternity. So stop supporting this evil now...

Thyroid surgery by Mary
Buddha's checkup today revealed that she is indeed hyperthyroid. The doctor showed me how enlarged her thyroid is now. I'm kicking myself because another vet saw this a year ago, but because her T3 levels were only high-normal I did nothing. (Either I misunderstood what this doctor's partner said...

Cat food - dry/wet (this has probably been discussed a thousand times already) by Shellie
Hey everyone, I've got two 2 y/o ragdoll kittens - Karma and Cocoa - who I've fed with dry food in the morning and throughout the day (Hills Science) and wet food for dinner (Whiska's canned or pouches).. When I took my babies to the vet recently to get their vaccinations updated, the vet advised...

Do vets really care? by Linda Hartley
My special friend is Yogi, 17 years old. He has had 6 vets in his lifetime and each has been different in their approach to diagnosing and treating any illness he has had. I would just like to say that in his last days I have done a lot of soul searching and net searching...latterly, hopelessly,...

tail docking and declawing by Yngver
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/local/story/137778p-122499c.html In the version of this story that ran locally, the lawyer for the breed group said labeling tail docking as cruel was as silly as saying declawing cats is cruel. I guess she doesn't realize that declawing *is* cruel. I hope that...

cat exhibits strage behavior when playing with toy by Rich[_2_]
We have two cats, both 10 year old neutered males. Indoor only, perfectly healthy. Zero medical history. Current on vaccines, etc. About a month ago we purchased a new toy. It's basically a mouse on a wire, and a wand. There's no catnip or any other attractant/stimulant on the toy. They go...

Need suggestions on a New food by Mike
I have a 9yo neutered male cat that needs a food change. He's been on Hill's Prescription Diet CD/S dry food (for struvite crystals/stones) for about 7 years. He's always hungry but he doesn't like his food anymore, he prefers eating the regular cat food. The vet said I could try another brand for...
