Cosimo is one sick cat by T
First, I got the news that at 24 lbs. he is morbidly obese. The leg splaying is probably because of the UTI but that's been resolved. Still awaiting test results to see if there's any kidney or liver damage. On top of that he's arthritic in his left hip and right rear knee.

Persistant Respiratory Infection by [email protected]
I have a four year old male cat (Borgart) whom I adopted from a local shelter 7 days ago. He developed URI symptoms the second day I had him. he began sneezing and I noticed very mild congestion. The biggest sign of illness was the fact he was uninterested in food or water as well as very...

Please help: very picky eater! by AlexZ
I think I made a mistake! I wanted to determine which (canned) foods my cat likes, so bought a large variety from Science Diet, Fancy Feast, Pro Plan, Iams, Nutro, etc., mostly "premium" ones but also a few from Friskies and Whiskas just to try them too. I kept detailed notes on how she reacted to...

Unique markings by Switch
Hello! wanted to comment on Lucy's markings... She's a tabby, she's very plush, especially her belly (if it was me; that would drive me crazy, lol) I just noticed her feet, each toe is seperated with a black line looking on top of her feet..you see each toe is outlined with a strong black line.

10 year old female cat urination question. by nadoja
I have a 10 year old female persian cat. A few months ago, she has adopted a new littter box habit. She places her front paws in the box, her hind paws on the edge of the box, and she squats and urinates outside the box. Urinary tract infection/cystits has been ruled out. I have bought a new box...

Innova and better looking cats by [email protected]
Someone mentioned their cat looked better, nicer fur, using Innova, as opposed to Science Diet. Since that thread, originally the low phosphorus thread, is way over 100 posts and Google has stopped numbering the posts when being viewed, for the time being, I am starting a new thread if that's okay....

our favorite tropic--cat food by Jean B.
I have spent some hours trying to go through the recent posts on this incendiary topic, and I am still here asking my usual questions.... Background: In January 2005, Mingy was hospitalized for a blockage and struvite crystals. This was really awful for him (and thus for me) because he is an...

Indoor vs. Outdoor Dilemma by [email protected]
I know the general topic has _certainly_ been addressed here a million times, but I'd like to hear some brainstorming on how I can get around the problem in my own future situation. My wife and I have three cats (2-3 years old) that were raised entirely as happy, laid-back indoor cats. In a...

Heart Murmur by jmc
I've just come back from the vet. He says Meep has a heart murmur. It's a bit odd, he didn't tell me in the examining room but as I was checking out, "did you know Meep has a murmur?". He didn't give me a grading or anything, and I didn't know to ask until now, when I've been googling for...

Update on Spam (the cat not the emails) by Glitter Ninja
As I posted in my rant a few days ago, Spam had been pooping in the living room. So today I caught the entire production and I think he's constipated. Spam peed in his pan, and pooped a little tiny bit before coming back to his favorite chair. After five minutes he hopped down and headed for the...

Just adopted a Cat, but he's not eating... Help Please... by Go Red Sox
Thank you all for you input. Yes, he has gone to the bathroom every day I have had him. He has done both #1 and #2 each time I have checked, each day. I did forget to mention that I have been giving him Pounce Cat treats. I have only given him a couple, but he ate every one I have offered him. I...

Cat in early kidney disease by Corey Kaye
Ginger is a 6 year old orange and white spayed female. She's been inside all her life with me, but was born in a barn. Tested FIV/FeLV negative, vaccinated on schedule. I got her from my hay guy, and I believe that she's HIGHLY inbred--oddly shaped front legs, teeth missing (and have...

Medical reasons for not purring? by [email protected]
Hi, first-time poster here. I adopted a 3-year-old cat about five months ago and have been trying to figure out why he doesn't purr. He's a very affectionate cat, doesn't seem at all traumatized. But he simply doesn't purr. He does make a bit of a squeaky noise every now and again, but it's not at...

How many shots do my cats need? Is the Vet ripping me off? Help!!! by B Kat
Hi, four months ago someone tossed some kittens into my yard. Although I already have two cats, I decided to keep these two kittens, as there is no way I could ever drop them off at the pound. At seven months of age I took them to have them spayed and neutered. The doctor told me they must have...

Odd litterbox habits by jmc
For most of her life, Meep was a cat that would only pee once a day, and poo like every other day. After her second cystitis attack, we made some changes that finally got her drinking enough water, and she was eating more canned food for a while. So, she is using the litterbox more like a normal...
